| class comments : | the material was like ece 460 lite, so i was unmotivated...it could have been interesting though. i really don't think enough attention was paid to the hardware, and i think it should be in assembly rather than c. of course those things make it easier, but made me less attentive. |

| instructor comments : | he was a nice enough guy in person, so maybe he doesn't deserve it, but he is a horrible instructor. i found him completely useless. there are not certain areas of instruction he is bad at. there just aren't any he is decent at. |

| class comments : | Didn't get the boards until about halfway through the semester so that put a hinder on things (analagous to taking a flight control class without being able to get in a plane or simulator to see what you're being taught) |

| class comments : | The course showed promise at first. No textbook, buy $60 micrcontroller board, all online notes. Some of Dean's HW's were ridiculously long & tedious. Most of the HW's you search out of the microcontroller manuals & class notes (PDF). Only one test, which sucks 'cuz you have a severe lack of grades. Labs are valuable, but limited. You start with VERY basic stuff, gradually step up over the next 2 labs, then take a huge leap with the last lab as you have to write almost all code yourself for a co |

| instructor comments : | Dean's grading is strict on HW's & he is strict about policy most of the time. He is definitely more of a programming than a CPE/EE guy. Very helpful during office hours though. He is more understanding as finals approach with the last lab, more willing to grant extensions. |
