The essays were a bitch, but you only have a couple of em (lemme know if you want mine....fix the blood....err red pen all over em and they weren't too bad). We watched a total of about 2 video all semester....and those were the ones Parker was in, so eh :-/ |

Guys, if your girlfriend is in there, make sure she doesn't go to see him alone for "extra help" or to "talk about her grade". It's no good..... |

What a fascinating course about ancient history. The course itself was more an overview than anything turly in-depth, which kept lectures brief and to the point. |

| class comments : | 3 bluebook exams via distance education. If you aren't in Raleigh, you can have the exams faxed to a proctoring location (I used my local library).
Exams were short definitions of terms, then choose 2 essays of 3 to write about. Books ARE needed for exams/lectures. Exam window is usually 1 week, offering flexibility.
Videos are watched whenever. You can watch 9 the day before the test if you want to or space them out 1 a day. Rewinding to catch up / clarify notes is a nice bonus. |

| instructor comments : | The distance education program did a good job recording lectures. A variety of materials were used during lectures. The stories in the books were entertaining.
He knew his stuff and did a good job teaching it. Disucssions with students were lively, you felt like you were THERE in the classroom. Great communication via email, even while he was in Jordan. |

| class comments : | hard class full of nothing but chalkboard after chalkboard of incoherent notes. there was an attendance policy, like 3 absences and letter grade deduct. tests were way too hard for a survey course. multiple choice questions consisted of four options and "all of the above" as well as "none of the above". the essay portion, which counted for 70% of a test, required citing "primary sources". this meant buying extra books as well. 4 freaking books for this class. wtf? |
