| class comments : | Wow. The most fun math class I've had at state. The material was taught in a reasonably paced and understandable way. Grading could have been more prompt, but people were always missing exams. |

He has lots to say, and often he will simply talk about his personal experiences in mathematics instead of teaching for a little while. He still manages to cover his material though. And he is really funny. Don't sit near the front of the class or near the aisles unless you want to be picked on. |

| class comments : | Hong made that material interesting. Tests were fair, and easy if you went to class everyday. I would have done very bad in this class if I had it with any other prof. Also Hong lets you use graphing calculators on the tests. |

This was until his final exam. I had an A+ in the class and dropped to a B+ bc he put problems on the exam that were like nothing we had on the homework or previous tests... which is what I had studied! I would take him again but I was pretty pissed about the final. |

| class comments : | The class was very fair. The way grades are determined is clearly explained from day 1. Attendance is supposedly taken and counts for 5% of the final course grade. Class never got out early and sometimes went overtime when he started late. If you know how to do the homework (only one homework set per test), you will ace the tests. Pace is important on the tests. You can know how to do everything and get caught by the time. Watch out for the final. It was entirely too long. |

The T.A. graded everything, and sometimes it wasn't returned promptly, but that was often because there were people that took the test late or something. Has an accent, but is easy enough to understand, and has good grammar. |

What I did not like was that he would tell us there would be homework posted on the web, and then not post it. Not that I love to do hw but I needed alot of practice on the problems, especially since each test covered alot of material. I tried to talk to him about this issue 3 different times, and he said "yeah I broke my promise but the MA dept doesn't like it that my classes' GPAs are higher that the other 341 |

| class comments : | Most informative and helpful lectures I've had for any course. There's no textbook so you learn everything in class, no graded homeworks, and no surprises on the tests. You DO have to know how to do the stuff to pass, but if you just practice with the sample tests and homeworks, you will do fine. |

That stuff will be very important on the final, so watch out! (It varies from year to year on the final, apparently, just pay attention and get notes when you skip class.) |
