| course comments : | For someone who enjoys conceptual geometry along with 3d geometry its great especially if you are good at calculus however some concepts can be quite difficult. |
| class : | Spring 2002 section 002 |
| grade received : | A+ |
| class rating : | 4 - Awesome |
| class comments : | Some sembalance of an attendance policy but there was required homework due each week. Mostly the most difficult problems from each section were on the required homework. |

| instructor comments : | Guy was great even though he had an eastern European accent. This guy gave a curve on the final grades and allowed us to have one notecard for each of the four tests and two for the final. Didn't make the class but it wasn't hard either. |

| instructor comments : | I can't say that I learned alot from his teaching but I would have to say I love him. I made a 15 on the first test. He told me that if I made improvement on the other tests and final he would help me out. Well I did what he said. Making all A's and B's of the next tests. He gave me a B. |

| course comments : | Calculus 3 isn't as bad as Calculus 2. If you can make it through calc 2, you can get through this class. |
| class : | Fall 2002 section 011 |

| class comments : | There wasn't an attendance policy. Class always let out on time. |

| instructor comments : | He has a little accent but I was able to understand him completely after a week. He gives a curve. He assigns homework but he doesn't take it up, look at it, or take it for a grade. But the test come from the homework. He allows one 4 x 6 notecard each test. You can cram whatever you want on it. And two notecards on the final. |

| course comments : | Still not a big fan of calculus in general, but my theory is that if you can pass 241 you shouldn't have problems with 242. It's not nearly as bad. |
| class : | Fall 2002 section 011 |
| grade received : | B+ |
| class rating : | 4 - Awesome |
| class comments : | The class is easier than 241 because there is a huge curve at the end. My final grade was a B+ but my test average was only a 78, my Maple average was about a 40, and even though I never checked, I'm convinced that my final exam score sucked. That curve definitely helped though |

| instructor comments : | Yes, he does have an accent that is kind of hard to understand at first, but he is really a cool guy. Very open to questions from students and approachable in the office. |

| course comments : | You gotta take it. If you like geometry and calculus here you go. Know your cal I and II material. Unless you have a complete dick of a teacher integrals and derivatives will be very elementary throughout the course. |
| class : | Fall 2003 section 004 |
| grade received : | B |
| class rating : | 3 - Good |
| class comments : | If I had put more effort into the course it could have been an easy A. Dr. Zenkov does not have an attendance policy, but he will work examples in class that are usually the exact problems he will put on the tests. This is important as you will see below. |

| instructor comments : | He has difficulty expressing himself, or getting his point across, BUT he curves the grades like MAD. |

| instructor comments : | he knows his stuff before he gets to class. only problem is that he has a strong accent so sometimes its hard to understand him. this can surely be fixed by sitting in the front |

| course : | MA 520 |
| course rating : | 3 - Good |
| course comments : | Whereas MA405 dealt primarily with matricies with real entries, here you deal with a much more diverse, abstract subject matter: infinite dimensional spaces, minimal and characteristic polynomials, invariant spaces, canonical forms, billiear forms, inner product spaces, etc. It's these things that allow you to understand the basic properties of the vector spaces and transformations you learned about in MA 405. Take MA 225 or MA 407 before taking this class. You will have to do proofs. |

| class comments : | We used the book Linear Algebra by Kenneth Hoffman and Ray Kunze. It assumes a good deal of mathematical sophistication: it leaves out steps in proofs and has few numerical examples. However, the book does do a great deal to further your knowledge of the subject matter. I would recommend finding another more user-friendly book on amazon.com or at the library to supplement the text. |

| instructor comments : | He rarely followed the textbook, which made it difficult to reconcile classnotes with the text. His writing on the chalkboard could be difficult to follow. He would assign hellacious homeworks (6-8 problems) and would only grade 2 of them. Homeworks were rarely graded promptly. He could be dismissive of students. This class is good. The professor is not. Take it from someone else. |
