NC State Quiz Bowl competes at Athens tournament

submitted by pakman044 on Sunday, February 8 2004 at 10:23 PM

The unofficial NC State Quiz Bowl team went down to Athens to the NAQT Southeastern Sectional Collegiate Tournament at the University of Georgia and finished 7-5 in Division II, defeating such teams as University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Macon State, Tulane, Furman, and Morehouse. Competing this weekend were quiz bowl members Patrick King, Ravi Shah, Paul Smith, Jimmy Sugar, and Don Warren. The Emory team eventually won the Division II title. Participants in the SCTs across the country qualify to compete at NAQT's Intercollegiate Championship Tournament in St. Louis this year.

The "unofficial" NC State Quiz Bowl team is open to all NC State undergraduate and graduate students who generally like to show off their knowledge and have fun at the same time. We do typical individual tossup and team bonus questions in practice, as well as individual elimination type competitions, and online games. Questions can vary in difficulty from typical college level quiz bowl all the way down to fun Trivial Pursuit, popular culture, and high school questions. Practices are held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7-8, typically in the Sullivan Hall fifth floor lounge (although you can come to as many or few practices as you wish).
