JD, I cheered for a year and 1/2 here at State, and I can grant you this.... None of the male cheerleaders that cheer here at State are gay... It's probably a different story at other colleges... but all the guys that cheer here are really cool dudes...

I don't doubt that, but I guess I am old school in the theory that men should play the sports and the women should cheer them on. Goes back to the gladitorial days I suppose.

yeah man no worries... before i got to college, I didn't even know that there was such thing as a male cheerleader... I know from the small country town I'm from, if I had done it in high school, I would have been looked at as gay as a 3 dollar bill... I played baseball in HS (2000 State Champions)... like my second week of my freshman year, these chicks on my hall recruited me... I just went out to a practice and I saw all these swoll ass dudes throwing small ass girls around like bunny rabbits and these same swoll ass dudes were turning flips and shit... I became really interested... I wouldn't have quit, but it just became too much... School, my band, and cheerleading... I had to drop either music or cheerleading and it wasn't a hard decision there b/c music is my passion... but I urge any guys out there that are not busy and would love to get involved in the athletic department (lots of perks - traveling to games, get to register before everyone, etc.), go and try out... don't worry about your skills... I had absolutely no skills when I came in.... It took me about 3-4 weeks to learn how to a back tuck and stunting is not as hard as it looks (especially when you're throwing around girls that are like 90-100 lbs.).... Anyway, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity - DO IT!

the main thing we do is backtucks...very similar in form but tucks go UP more than they go BACK

oh ok... I was the fat dude (catcher)... the only 2 things I remember about that game was that ya'll had nice locker rooms and I hit a line drive to the short stop and it bad hopped him in the nutz... game stopped for like 5 minutes... but he was ok. I don't know about his 2 friends though... I remember that being a close game, too... like 1 or 2 runs... I'll grant you one thing... Ya'll were 10 times better than the team we beat in the State Championship series (North Rowan)... They sucked hard... What position did you play?

Apex was a monster that year. We were supposed to play them once that year (thank god for lightning, cause we were gonna get our ass handed to us on a silver platter). Losing 53 seniors and Landon Powell sure did make them suck the next year though.

Greene Central - 2001 Hot Stove Tournament Champions (6 teams... 5 of which were 4A and we were 2A)... How's that for small school's kicking ass? No offense Shultz... Rose kicked some ass, but that was just our weekend.

Yeah, Apex really sucked in 2001. I was glad to see Landon go though. He was such an asshole at times.
