Since there are always so many Flash movies being posted and then weeks later reposted, maybe if there was a button on the main toolbar called "Flash Gallery" where everyone could post Flash Movies and a quick description to the right. Then people wouldn't miss any movies or post them multiple times taking up extra bandwidth. 9/21/2003 12:17:31 PM |

except posting movies doesn't waste any of TWW's bandwidth whereas your idea would consume more of TWW's bandwidth.
posting Flash movies hosted elsewhere only wastes bandwidth of whoever is actually hosting it. That works better for Jake than hosting it here.
and if you're really worried about missing a flash movie, well, that's just sad. 9/21/2003 12:55:38 PM |

I am just refering to a section that has the links to flash movies posted, not the actual movies themselves. 9/21/2003 1:05:23 PM |

bandwidth of seeing the links in a thread will be the same if not less than seeing the links in a special links area on the side of the screen...
think about it, not everyone will look at the thread that is posted, but the links on the side will be loaded for everyone and on every page they view. that's more wasted bandwidth than if the link is reposted several times. 9/21/2003 3:49:27 PM |

Maybe I am not being clear. What I mean, is add another category... Home, Calender, Books.... Flash Gallery. You click on Flash Gallery, there is a link, and to the right, a description of the link. Nobody would be required to ever look at the link, but if someone wanted to post a neat Flash movie, they could do it here, and thus avoid 57 "Dear Penis" threads.
It is also possible that I have no idea what I am talking about, but I do not think that this would take more bandwidth than all the Flash threads. 9/21/2003 4:22:28 PM |

i know what you are talking about as well. a flash movies link will not prevent flash movie threads from being started.
