... but also for (a) all of the children that lost their innocence today. i talked to my mom for a while earlier (she is a techer near young children) and she said the effect was just devastating, her school was trying to shelter the kids from the news, but that didn't work very well, and the images will be so traumatizing for them too. (geez, look what they've done to us as adults)(b) innocent people in the middle east. today hit home for me an idea of the kind of fear these ppl live in as a result of senseless terrorism. i mean, some of those ppl have known nothing but this random terrifying violence their whole lives. gives me new insight, personally.

I think this is like the Challenger accident for these children, only on a much larger scale. I was 6 years old and wanted to be an astronaut until I saw that gleaming white shuttle and those astronauts just vanish in one huge fireball...after that, it just didn't seem interesting anymore. It was as if all my dreams were just smashed in one big bang. I guess this is what those kids are seeing right now.
