when me and my girlfriend started dating we would just go on drives. We'd pick a highway and drive as far as we could before we had to turn around and come back. It was a great way to talk and get to know each other, and the random stops always made for an interesting adventure.

We've been together now for 3 years, this is still the number one thing we both enjoyed when we started dating.

BTW, pick state highways, not interstates, they have no scenery. Our road of choice was highway 50 headed west.

go to wendell, where they have a rock quarry and go cliff jumping. it will show that you can have fun. it even has a great view, so you can just go there to relax and enjoy nature.

yeah, so it's not in raleigh...but it's worth it. pack a picnic...and allergy meds if you have problems with pollen.

or...go to umstead park (on glenwood), rent a canoe, take a hike, have a picnic, etc. watch out for the snakes near the water's edge, though.

Duke Gardens is awesome. you have to pay to park there, or you can park on the street for free.

dont forget about plays too...prob. not much going on in the summer, but i know school productions are really cheap ($5/person) (talking peace college though, but something similar)
