I don't recall this being brought up before, but how about being able to edit thread titles?
Examples: the forums at Anandtech and Ars Technica. 11/4/2001 6:07:39 PM |

I disagree. Maybe at first, however, once the newness of it wears off it will be used properly. Look at Anandtech and Ars Technica to see the practice in use. How much abuse and confusion do you see there?
I am sure many people would like to be able to edit their thread titles for non-mischevious purposes (i.e. typos that make you look stupid, to clarify, to amend, etc.). It could especially be beneficial to the Classifieds section. 11/4/2001 6:39:46 PM |

maybe if the time limit for edits [on thread titles] was shorter -- 10 min? 5 min? i mean, that *is* something you would notice sooner than a post.
and it would also limit fooling around w/ the titles.
i don't know, i'm just throwing things out. 11/4/2001 7:12:30 PM |

I think the time limit would be a good idea too. 11/4/2001 7:27:28 PM |

you also have to keep in mind that unlike anandtech and ars technica (which i don't believe have ever seen the thread "i like buttsex") that our demographic tends to attract much more of the easily amused portion of the college student spectrum which is cery different from the more IT manager, technical oriented type person that will frequent ars technica or anadtech 11/4/2001 7:44:56 PM |
