Quote :
"To Cory Burnell, founder of Christian Exodus, that political activity isn't enough. He wants something more radical - a kind of Christian free state.

"We believe that Christ's admonition to go and make disciples of all nations does not exclude any facets of life," Burnell said by telephone from his Valley Springs, Calif., home. "We're asking people to move and do something new. Our intent is to put men in office who will do what (ousted Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice) Roy Moore did - defy the federal government."

The group's goal is to have 2,500 members in two upstate South Carolina counties by September 2006, and as many as 12,000 by 2008. That, Burnell said, would be enough to elect local candidates and snowball into a statewide force. Soon, enough right-thinking officials would be elected to force a confrontation with the feds.

"We are proponents of federal conflict," Burnell said. "People ought to stand up, they ought to flirt with arrest."

Burnell, 29, used to be a regional director in Texas for the League of the South, a secessionist organization. Robert Hayes, director of the league in South Carolina, said his group is working with Christian Exodus on the "common goal of self-government.""

1) Kind of like Afghanistan under the Taliban, but with John Deere hats instead of turbans.

2) I, for one, will not miss South Carolina. My only wish is that they take Texas with them.

Can they leave sooner? And they better change the Carolina part of their name.

They can annex the rest of the southeast south of us over to TX if they want, I sure as hell wouldn't miss it.

Is it weird that you bring up Clinton era republicans to defend the actions of democrats, but flip out on anyone who brings up Clinton to defend the actions of republicans?

Whats this obsession with Religion.

Why do these people keep trying to do things that could only end in bloodshed and have always previously failed?

While I agree conflict with the Fed is desirable, I don't think christian fundamentalism would be the most defensible course. I would much prefer classical republicanism to be the course taken.

Why not rebel against all those opressive federal regulations?

I definitely support reducing the size and power of Federal government, but this is extreme.

No different than people who were talking about leaving the United States or seceding from the Union because they lost a certain election a few months back.

Indeed, however having liberals and internet emo fags decide to leave the union and move to canada is slightly less threatening to my sense of safety then a bible thumping zealot wanting to setup a theocracy 3 hrs from my house.

^^^ Yeah, and I'd have to drive through it to get to Florida. Fuck that.

I'm so tired of fundamentalism making headlines EVERYWHERE. I feel like we're slipping into another dark age.

I, too, dream of a day when my country can have an openly Christian president. Or perhaps even 43 consecutively.

Seccession is not necessary. The author merely appears to be seeking confrontation with the Federal Government. In my opinion, such confrontation is necessary to preserve the autonomy of these United States. We, as people, should do all we can to restrict the Fed.

I think the California State police should be called whenever the Federal Anti-Drug taskforce trespasses on private property to sieze legal marijuana.

When that fails, juries should use their right of Nullification to prevent the enforcement of such bad laws.

Quote :
"In February of 2003, a California jury convicted marijuana activist Ed Rosenthal of growing marijuana, in violation of federal law.

What the jury didn't know — and wasn't allowed to hear — was that Rosenthal was not only growing the marijuana for medical patients, he was growing the stuff for the city of Oakland. After the trial, the jury was outraged. "'I'm sorry' doesn't begin to cover it," one told the New York Times. Said the foreman, "It's the most horrible mistake I've ever made in my entire life."

But is that necessarily true? Must jurors uphold even unjust laws? Maybe not.

In his 1998 book "Jury Nullification: The Evolution of a Doctrine," Clay S. Conrad defines "jury nullification" this way: "Jurors in criminal trials have the right to refuse to convict if they believe that a conviction would be in some way unjust.""

"The United States of America's last president, George W. Bush, declared himself Supreme Divine Emperor shortly before the end of his second term. After the Department of Homeland Security quashed a brief civil uprising, the Holy Chrisian Empire of Jesustan was established. Buoyed by its largely uneducated, impoverished and apathetic subjects, this new government maintained fanatic support, especially in the vast rural areas of the country. Today, Jesustan continues to be a strong military and economic powerhouse, despite its high unemployment and inflation."

High unemployment and inflation do not a powerhouse make. Otherwise France would rule us all.

For the love of God, please don't let York County be 1 of the 2. I'd have to cross international borders to go to work (better get a work visa).

I would very much welcoming the transformation of South Carolina in to a Christian state officially, and then have them officially secede. Watching the ensuing collapse, or rise of a tyrannous, corrupt gov. of the newly formed Christian state would be highly entertaining, I think.

Then we can bomb them, which would make South Carolina look much better than it does today.

Much like Europeans invading Russia in winter, when South Carolina decides to cede from the Union, you know this isn't going to end well.

The sad thing is the dillusions of grandeur the people who come up with these schemes hold. I know a lot of Christians who think this guy is a whack job and none who have put their homes on the market to move to South Carolina.

see, if they won a majority and managed to secede SC from the Union, it would screw the other 49% of the people in the state.

what we oughta do is let a few counties secede without even opposing it...and make sure that they're landlocked counties...and then close the border with them, refuse to trade, etc. they'd come crawling back, and nobody would fuck around talking about secession for a couple hundred more years.
