The two episodes I saw seemed alright. Nothing to tune in for, but okay for watching after TDS.

It seemed to me that his jokes and observations were usually fairly funny, but for some reason it would always end with the audience not laughing at all and it looking like he told a bad joke.

The only thing that got a chuckle out of me was when he had pictures of things that annoyed him, like the manhole cover with the road lines that didn't line up.

i really think the audience plays a huge part in it.
I usually don't laugh just because the audience is, but a bad reaction from the audience makes it seem like a bad show. They make a big deal about audience interaction when you go to live shows.

Plus, we're so used to canned/forced/fake laughter at this point, that if all you hear is ::crickets:: it makes the show seem terrible.

I think once this show finds a following and figures out its format a little better, it should do ok.

In any case, it can't be worse than that late night carson daly talk show...

Carolla is damn funny on LoveLine

he always talks about how much the Comedy Central crowd sucks


the show is ok... it's better than tough crowd, it's better than Stella. I think it'll come around.

i think on the 2nd show adam said something about how his show didnt use fake laughs like a lot of other shows and that his wife commented how no one laughed at his jokes...i hope comedy central gives this show a little time to develop. adam is funny but the show seems to need some work.

I admire the fact that he doesn't require the audience to laugh. I noticed their lack of participation, but I honestly just didn't find the jokes funny. I'm not opposed to giving him time to develop it, but I really don't think he's a good fit for a traditional type of late-night show. He was hilarious on the Man Show, but they relied heavily on sketches.

that's a hell of a stretch, that show was good when it started and gradually got worse as they quit having recognizable guest comedians. this show is starting bad, and everyone's hoping for adam's sake that it gets better fast. i don't see it happening, outside of the daily show and southpark, comedy central really doesn't seem to care about what happens to its shows and thus puts no effort or $ into making them better. the best new shows they've had in forever were chapelle's show and kid notorious, which they cancelled after only one season.

Caught Loveline on the radio tonight (100.3 here in W-S).

And Mind of Mencia blows. I love every single episode of Chappelle's Show, and CC has nothing on par with that right now.

I like Adam Corolla, and I thought he was significantly funnier than Jimmy on The Man Show. On Too Late, I find his jokes funny and think to myself, "that was a somewhat original joke and I think it's funny," yet I don't laugh too much. His timing is weird or something.


Mencia, on the other hand, is bad all around. His jokes aren't original, they aren't really funny, and his delivery is awful. It's a lot like listening to a hispanic Colin Quinn. "DUUUUUUURRRRRR, you're RETARRRRDED!"

i think part of why i like mind of mencia is because i have been watching/listening to his standup since high school and have enjoyed him mainly because his stuff is pretty original, although it does seem he's gotten in a bit of a rut since 9/11 and has been all about raggin arabs about their bad apples. comparing him to colin quinn is pretty far off base tho, mencia's delivery is great with a crowd, not as good when directed at a camera. quinn's fuck ups are part of his act and really the only thing that makes him mildly comical.

i find the show humorous and watch it because there really isn't anything better on. however, really did not expect the show to be funny at all because i didn't think his stand up translated to skits very well because most of his material is about the hypocracy of society and the stupid shit that we make a big deal out of that really doesn't even deserve a blurb in a high school newpaper.
