CAIR executive director Nihad Awad said Monday, "Although we are saddened that Michael Graham would not take responsibility for his hate-filled words, we do welcome WMAL's action as a step toward removing some of the harmful anti-Muslim rhetoric that fill our nation's airwaves." Graham blamed the Muslim group for his firing. "As a fan of talk radio, I find it absolutely outrageous that pressure from a special interest group like CAIR can result in the abandonment of free speech and open discourse on a talk radio show," he said."

this is news? a guy got fired from a private radio station for saying things that the radio station didn't agree with. this happens all the time.

I am a Muslim-- & although I completely disagree with Graham, I think that every person is entitled to their opinions, views, and should be able to express them. I mean, he gets fired for something that he thinks, it's not going to change his ignorant mindset. Gary is out there in the brickyard saying hateful stuff about Islam and Muslims all the time, but nobody is kicking him out of the brickyard. If what the guy is saying is starting to rally people up and make them attack their neighborhood Muslim, then I might have something to say about it. But if the guy is just saying what he thinks, then he is entitled to it. He shouldn't have been fired. Especially if he's been known to make such comments or statements, then the listeners should learn to expect it, and if you don't like what the guy says, just don't listen. Like I said, firing him doesn't do anything...if anything, for people who think like him it's going to make him out like some kind of martyr. Firing him pretty much gave his statements more fuel than helping any type of stereotypes against Muslims.

The radio station should be forced to keep this guy. Just because this guy's painfully ignorant remarks reflect VERY badly on the company and could cost them millions in advertising capitol, we have to look at the bigger picture.

... If you take someone off the air for declaring war against muslims and equating them to terrorists, the terrorists win.

y'know i hate what this guy said, and it's unfortunate, and yea, he def. deserved to be fired

but ya gotta admit, islam needs to take a more pro-active stance against their extremists.

that said, so do christians, conservatives, liberals, atheists, and pretty much any other demographic.

Whether or not the station should have fired the guy, morally, is unimportant. It's a private radio station, and he knew he'd be fired for saying it. Hell, he said so himself.

historically all three of the Abrahamic facisms have provided a base for launcing just as much wholesale violence and destruction, as they have provided a base for spirituality
