want dual core p4 (has to be intel for certain reasons, AMD fan boys need not apply)

1gb - 2gb of ram

preferrably agp, but pci express is ok i guess (will have to upgrade video cards if pci-e)

don't need any dvd drives or hdds or perhiperals

what's the best case, psu, ram, motherboard combo to get for ~$600-800

best bet is a $300 dell. OSX doesnt support dual core yet, and only the onboard 900 series intel video has acceleration.

Oh and it ran absolutely fine on my A64 3500+ btw. You dont need intel.

^what you work for dell?

if your building a cheap system for normal daily computer, chances are you don't need dual core. besides, dual core p4's suck compared to amd 64x2. A normal p4 or amd64 will do most jobs for average users. Computers have gotten pretty fast that normal content creation doesn't take that long to render.

Tell us what you want to do with the computer.

He already said what he wanted to use the computer for.

No I don't work for Dell, but considering I do know what the damn OSX x86 release supports, from that I can tell him that buying a cheap ass dell will be the best computer for it.

He needs something with SSE3, 900 Series (xtreme2) onboard graphics, and a realtek 8139 or intel ethernet. It will cost him more to build that himself, period.
