\Stand by me one of the best dramatic coming of age movies ever created, no other coming of age movie will ever top it.

i actually watched that about a year ago, it was pretty damn emotional and the song really captures the mood of the movie some how

that movie is pretty badass. sometimes when they show it on tv, they edit it too much.

I watched the first half last night, will probably watch the rest tonight - seems pretty decent, although for some reason the voiceover keeps reminding me of the wonder years

I don't think they would make any more movies like this ever! Was the main character actually based on a little bit of Stephen King's life as a 12 year old. I think it is pretty hypocritical of Rob Reiner though to preach againist the horror of giving preteens cigarettes , when the characters of the movie that he directed where smoking cigars and cigarettes. Anyone agree?

Anyone notice this movie is barely ever ever, not even on the really really explicit cable channels like HBO or Showtime , ever shown on tv?

Hah, Jerry O'Connell (Quinn from Sliders) played the fat kid.

I am glad to say that it is one of my favorite movies and I own the DVD, though I bought it before the newer special edition one was released. I have been looking for a poster from it but haven't been able to find one, need to check out that poster shop at Myrtle Beach.

I don't think the Wolfline goes out that way but I could be wrong. Close to campus...you could check one of the Blockbusters(Avent Ferry or Cameron Village), but they might be over-priced.

But yeah I got mine at Best Buy, haha, usually find myself there once a week, it's such a great store.

The regular edition is $9.99 at Best Buy, and I didn't see the special edition but I THINK it's $14.99
