recently the clock within windows has started to move very fast. the second hand on the clock will pass each minute within 3 seconds. while this is occuring, the double click function with the mouse no longer works. When rebooting, the system hangs
The only thing that will allow the system to return to normal is clearing the cmos with the jumper pin. clearing the cmos is only a temporary fix, as the clock speed will become super fast again within a day.
no new hardware has been added to the machine no new software has been installed bios has been flashed and updated to the most recent version 9/2/2005 9:51:19 AM |

How old is the motherboard? I'd try replacing the CMOS battery.
And by that I mean buying a new motherboard. 9/2/2005 10:06:20 AM |

So the whole system is factory with only an updated BIOS? Maybe it's the BIOS update. Have you researched known issues with it? 9/2/2005 10:19:20 AM |

i updated the bios in response to the clock issue
i have researched known issues with the board and have not come up with anything substantial.
also, after emailing abit's tech support i recieved a copy and pasted response with nothing substantial other than the possibility of a faulty power supply which has been ruled out.
one person posted the exact same issue in abit's forums several months ago. a resolution to the issue was never posted in that thread. and the original poster could not be reached for comment. 9/2/2005 10:28:33 AM |
