so last night when i clicked on firefox it asked which user or profile i'd like to be under. it wouldn't let me choose default (where all my good bookmarks and whatnot are) so i had to choose the other profile, which doesn't have all the bookmarks i need. can anyone tell me how to switch back to the other user/profile? 9/15/2005 5:20:39 PM |

You could always reinstall firefox. I had that happen to me once for some reason, and reinstalling firefox (just rerunning the install file, not uninstalling then installing again) fixed the problem. Of course, the new install file was also a newer version... 9/15/2005 5:25:35 PM |

^ does it save all your original settings though? 9/15/2005 5:30:36 PM |

yeah, if you just run an install of a new version it keeps all your old files and stuff. if you uninstall it i THINK it gives you the option of not deleting your old profiles and such, and then you should just be able to reinstall too. like I said though, I don't think you need to actually uninstall though. 9/15/2005 5:35:26 PM |

Just Ctrl+alt+delete and shut down any and all firefox.exe processes that are running...then restart firefox...problem solved...you won't loose your bookmarks this way... also another tip: export your bookmarks in html format from firefox then upload them online somewhere...then you have your bookmarks no matter which computer you are on... 9/15/2005 5:35:38 PM |

It's been a long while since I had to deal with this issue... You can also just copy over settings/bookmarks to a new profile.
Last time I had to deal with that issue though, I just copied over my bookmarks and redid my settings to make sure nothing went wrong. 9/15/2005 8:07:08 PM |

Ctrl + Alt + Del. In the task manager, go to processes and turn off firefox.exe. Restart Firefox, it should work. 9/16/2005 12:06:35 AM |

That happened to me once. I just rebooted. A simple reboot solves like 50% of the world's computer problems. 9/17/2005 10:01:21 AM |
