my brother has an external dvd burner that we are trying to use to burn some movies i have on my computer. the problem is it doesn't work well with my computer. so i'm trying to find a way to transfer these movies to his computer but of course they are 700+ MB's and won't fit on any of my cdr's. is there a way i can put them on a dvd-r? they say they hold up to 4.7gb's of memory yet when i put them into the dvd burner and plug it into my computer, the most i can get is 650mb to show as being available. is there some way i can access that space just for storage of files? when i put these dvd-r's into my regular cd burner they don't even show up as being accessible.

what are you using to burn with? Nero. you probably have to change the drive designation. Nero thinks you are still burning to your cd-rom which holds ~650mb.

we were just copying and pasting files to the drive, not really using a program. how do you change the drive designation?
