I came back for a 3-4 month stretch around when Age of Shadows came out. I was sickened by it. Damage types and weapon and armor attributes and elimination of heavy armor dex penalty helped make game combat almost entirely item based, rather than relying on the skill of the player.

And Felucca was more or less empty. It turned into a carebear game.

I've only played EQ1, EQ2 and WoW. EQ1 is the one I keep returning to. I tried Guild Wars beta but couldn't get into it. WoW and EQ2 are much easier to get things done in than EQ1 but there's just something about it that I love. Maybe b/c it's the one I lost my MMORPG virginity to.

i had eq1 and it was all right, but i couldnt really get into it. WoW i've gotten into, but not nearly as much as the majority of the people in the wow thread.

Played EQ1, DAoC, WoW Guild Wars, lineage a bit... Dark Age is the only one i can always go back to.. RvR is great especially now that they have none Trials of Atlantis Servers up

eq1 has that pull because it does take forever to do anything...hence "you had to live that shit." it grew so much while i played it as well with the never ending expansion packs and new items. kinda like real life you would see things that put you in utter awe at the beginning and by the time you were level it was chump change, kinda like real life. put it some nastalgia factors and whatnot from day 1.

guildwars didnt do much for me, was ok, but meh. i guess if id done more pvp id have liked it better. it felt too much like shadowbane for me. make a char, get bored with it immediately and switch. level fast enough to make it not matter much, but shrug.

wow was the only one that i liked as much. i probably had more fun playing wow, but the rewards felt even more shallow than eq1. sitting in najena for 11hrs camping j-boots made you cherish them. i never felt attached to anything in wow despite how often i ran an instance. i actually prefer the non-instanced dungeons. feels more real.

When you can no longer communicate anything to your friends other that what happened to you last night in WoW. You start distancing yourself from friends.

And having nothing but online friends is pathetic.
