I know through NCSU we get Norton AV for free, but my relative asked me if there was a good, free AV program and to be honest I really don't know. Does anybody know about this?

Send them Norton. AVG isn't bad either.

AVG works decently. Their ISP (presuming they have internet) usually can provide one as well.
