God help me for asking this here but I'm looking into replacing the current system that my company uses because of issues it has with integration, scalability and others.

I thought some of you might have had to work with these systems in the past and could tell me your experiences with them. Who to avoid.

The one requirement is that the inventory/barcode management system must be able to talk with custom made software.

We've written a few barcode scannning apps at work and the scanners that we've most recently used are all made by symbol. We had a lot of problems with the hardware and the reading sucked ass. Their Customer Support was hellish to deal with too. Of course the problems eventually got worked out but still sucked.
