I'm in Village Green Apartments and I cant for the life of me figure out how to FTP files to my xbox on the VBNET network. Over the summer I lived in a townhouse with Roadrunner, and I could easily ftp to the xbox after plugging the xbox into the router. I dont know what the difference is here. I emailed my xbox's MAC address to VBNET a while back, and it still wont work.
Also, when I plug the xbox into the wall, it says 10/Half Duplex or something like that. Shouldnt it be saying "Full Duplex"?
Anyone have experience with this at Village Green? 10/24/2005 10:36:12 PM |

instead of private network, you plugged xbox into a spare cat5 jack in your apartment?
what exactly is VBNET, DHCP? Do you have xbox settings right? couldn't you just get another NIC card and use a crossover for the xbox? 100mbit >> halfduplex 10Mb
can you ping the xbox? 10/25/2005 2:30:59 PM |

in this response i assume that your desktop system that you're trying to connect to the xbox from is behind the same router as the xbox, both on the NAT side of it (this isn't clear in your post). if this is the case, the problem has nothing to do with your ISP.
try logging into your router and seeing what IP the xbox was given, if it wasn't given one make sure your xbox is configured to request a dynamic address. If you have it set statically on your xbox and it is on the same subnet as your desktop, and your desktop can properly access the network (as may possibly be seen by you posting here?) there should be no issue with connecting to it using that set static IP, unless you have bad cables or something is configured extremely stupidly on your router.
and if it claims it has a half-duplex connection when plugged into the wall, that just means your building is wired shittily, and you've got to deal with it. (either that or the xbox is just misdetecting it)
so, what ftp server is running on your xbox? (if you don't know - what program is running on your xbox when you try to connect to it...xbmc? avalaunch? evox? linux?) 10/25/2005 2:34:26 PM |
