Damn, suddenly I don't feel so bad about NC State's season. I didn't even know they were 3-4...where the fuck have I been.
They could possibly lose that game to Vandy. The only reason Vandy has lost a few games is because their D isn't very good. 10/31/2005 7:35:14 PM |

Randy Sanders is a piece of shit, but it is like the NCSU situation. They have 2 dumbass quarterbacks and cant make up their mind on one. Fullmer might pull an upset against ND just to get everyone off his back. They will win their last 3 games after ND: Memphis, Vandy, and Kentucky. So Tennessee will go 6-5 or 7-4 and make a bowl unlike NCSU. 10/31/2005 11:37:11 PM |

^I disagree. He's had it rough this year, but last season the team was in the top 4 in every offensive category and he was calling the plays when Tennessee won the NC back in 99.
However, people in Tennessee have been wanting his head for years. I go to about one Tennessee game a year, this year it's the Memphis game, and every time I go the fans yell about Sanders the whole game--I went to the Kentucky game last year and even though Tennessee put up 32 points (I think it was 32) the fans were pissed the whole game...

Tennessee has top-notch talent. Hell they are wide receiver U now. Look how many they have put in the NFL the last 10 years? Swain and Meachum will play in the NFL in the coming years. Running backs have been just as good. Riggs would have been NFL material before he got hurt, and now Foster is on track to go as well. There is absolutely no reason Tennessee should lose to South Carolina. Georgia, Florida, and maybe even Alabama were understandable. 11/1/2005 10:00:54 AM |

all I can say being from nashville and hearing daily from my dad and my friends about the UT situation, is that they are extremely upset this year because they got everyone so hyped up at the beginning of the season. but their main problem definitely goes to their quarterback situation as far as scoring. everyone will be pissed, but they will probably still make a bowl and next year probably just be really good. but who knows...hey they might even lose to vandy (oh how I would love to see that...and if it's ever gonna happen, this would be the year) 11/1/2005 11:06:47 AM |

I am here haha.
Tennessee was always known as WR U, and this class, based JUST on talent, is by far the best ever, they are 5-6 deep with NFL talent at WR. The thing with Sanders is that he has done so-so, but with the talent Tenn has/had they should be a top 5 offense each year and they NEVER do that, well, at least since Manning left. When he was there, they were scoring 35-50 a game usually but since then there have been a TON of 16-13, 17-10 games. Sanders/Fulmer are so damn conservative. I have always said the two best Tennessee games I have EVER seen was the Florida game in 2001 when they beat Spurrier after being 16-18 point underdogs and then THE best game was the bowl game two games later against Michigan when Clausen, Witten, Stallworth and Kelley Washington were just airing it out like crazy and they beat the living shit out of them. But sandwiched in between those two games was that piece of shit outing againt LSU when they went back to being retarded and it cost them a trip to the NC game 11/1/2005 1:21:45 PM |

Quote : | "In announcing the resignation of Tennessee offensive coordinator Randy Sanders, effective at the end of the season, Volunteers head coach Phillip Fulmer said, "I'm sad that it has come to this. I understand how volatile and demanding the world of college athletics is."
With big salaries and big exposure -- who knew a coordinator 20 years ago? -- have come big pressure. Sanders, who turned 40 four days before the Vols' great comeback victory at LSU, grew up in east Tennessee, played quarterback at Tennessee and has never coached anywhere else. That didn't insulate him from the abuse heaped upon him now that the Vols can't move the football.
Tennessee (3-4) is averaging 16.1 points and 315 yards of offense per game. They haven't averaged 30 points a year in this pass-happy generation of college football since 2001. Sanders isn't happy with the lack of offense, either. But the problems have begun to affect his wife and daughters and he decided that he would be better off trying to coach somewhere else.
"I have been here 22 years," Sanders said Monday. "It's a very special place. It's been a big part of my life. I'm going to miss this place. There's a whole lot more to life than Tennessee football."
David Cutcliffe, Fulmer's close friend and Sanders' predecessor as offensive coordinator, is living in Knoxville. Cutcliffe resigned as Charlie Weis' quarterback coach at Notre Dame in order to fully recover from heart surgery. Doctors have given Cutcliffe a clean bill of health.
Cutcliffe, fired as head coach at Ole Miss last year after a six-year record of 44-29, said Monday that he spoke at length with Sanders and with Fulmer on Sunday.

Although, to be fair, I think Tennessee should have first retired Tee Martin's number since, you know, he was the one who actually led the Volunteers to a national title." |

Florida State aside, no ACC school has churned out better wideouts than the Pack. With eight Pro Bowls between them, Quick and Jeffires are the old school representatives, while Holt, Robinson and Cotchery are seamlessly carrying the torch into the 21st century. A former first -team All-American, Holt, in particular, is rapidly maturing into one of the premier receivers in the NFL. He left State as the school’s all-time leader in receptions, and the ACC’s all-time leader in receiving yards. Cotchery isn’t blessed with Holt’s raw physical talent, but he does have his receptions record, a mark he picked up last year as Philip Rivers’ favorite target.
