I am surprised that UCSF made it, but not UCLA. And also, what about Canada? McMaster, McGill, and U. of Toronto are deinitely more prestigious than Melbourne U., from what I know. And Germany, and Scandinavian countries?

people from all over the world come to the us for our universities. it's our high schools and middle schools that get ragged on.

i'm surprised by duke's place though. jumped from 52 to 11 in one year.

All of these rankings are complete BULLSHIT! You don't have to go to these Universities inorder to be SMART!

Most of the criteria for rankings are:
Research
How pretty buildings look
That is mostly it!

NC-STATE is 10th in Engineering and some professors are just plain DUMB!

we're 34 according to us news and world report. but all those lists are pretty meaningless. we certainly aren't 10th overall though. certain degrees, yes, but not the whole college.

We are not in a top 10 in any general category. But if you get more specific we are in a few.
according to US News we are,

#4 Veterinary Medicine
#5 Nuclear Engineering
#13 Industrial Engin. close to 10
#7 Graphic Design

but I only checked the majors I thought would be high ranked.
