Situation: I have 2 (4 port) routers. Normally I have to cascade 1 into the other to allow the more then 4 machines to access the internet. Unfortunately, this puts them on separate Lans. This makes it a pain. I would like to get the routers to act like 1 network instead of 2. Is this possible. Here is a pic of what the network looks like right now.

disable dhcp on router 2 and plug router 1 into a normal LAN port on it via crossover cable (or an uplink port if it has one)
[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 10:13 PM. Reason : also make sure both routers are not configured to use the same internal ip address] 11/9/2005 10:12:54 PM |

cool. it works now. the only thing that i did different was instead of plugging router 1 into router 2's uplink port, i just plugged it into a normal port. 11/9/2005 10:44:31 PM |

You're just using as a switch, which is really all you need it for.11/10/2005 10:03:06 PM |
