Which ones look like the best buys? Madden looks good, but is lacking a lot of features, since it was built from the ground up. No create-a-player, no challenging calls, and no owner mode.
Tiger woods looks pretty good, but i'd hate to drop 60 bucks on a golf game. 11/11/2005 1:03:48 PM |

You guys do know that the price of all sports games falls off a cliff when the next year's version comes out. More often than not the sports games will not improve by leaps and bounds from year to year either. Wait for Tiger Woods 2007 to come out then 2006 will go for $8 used.

^Patience is a virtue. You can save lots of money by just waiting a bit. I find it funny how people get in the mindset of 'gotta have it now' just as soon as the news of the release comes out. I figure I've gone 30 years without having to buy a game, the release date doesn't change that, might as well wait another year and save $texas.
You can be playing TW '05 while you wait

I heard that the first batch of games coming out for the 360 arn't going to be that great visually because they are not programmed to take advantage of all it hardware, because microsoft rushed them to finish for launch. The next group of games is suppose to be much better 11/11/2005 3:43:20 PM |

Saw some footage of Kameo and it looks like a blast. So many different enemies at once in large scale battles... i mean hundreds of mobs rushing at you. It has a Nintendo feel to the game (I think it was being developed for Nintendo originally) 11/15/2005 1:41:57 AM |

check it out - http://www.russellbeattie.com/notebook/1008688.html
some games like Soccer and racing will allow "virtual spectators" to watch other matches/races without actually participating. Russell Beattie imagines a whole new sports industry where virtual teams will form and people will go on xbox live to watch the games at particular times, or games could be downloaded and watched later, like you would do with a normal sports match. sounds reasonable and cool 11/16/2005 7:11:53 AM |
jbtilley All American 12797 Posts user info edit post |
^They had that technology many years ago. If you waited a few minutes before you pressed the start button on the controller you would watch the computer play for a few minutes. They later progressed and made it so that you could watch the computer play a full game.
Seriously though, why would people want to watch a game? The imagined 30,000 spectators of an online game was a bit laughable. Most people I know would rather play a game than watch one.
A few quotes from the article:
Quote : | "You sign up online, try out for a team, and start playing other teams from around the world." |
People would be too busy doing just that - they wouldn't want to waste time watching someone else do it. You can either spend your time getting good enough to make an online team or just watch from the sidelines? It is a pretty cool concept though. You could have leagues and have a system where people can make their way to the top. Coordinating online games such that each team member knows what time the game starts (on both sides of the ball) would be a bit of a headache but not unpossible. What do you do if only 2 team members show up for the game?
Quote : | "The cool thing about Soccer as opposed to other sports like American Football, is that every member of the team will play a significant role." |
Man. That speaks for itself. He might want to remove that sentence to preserve some credibility. He might have made a better point in saying that soccer has more of a global audience than football. The way he said it makes him look like a soccer fanboy.
Maybe the market for video game spectating exists. I'm just saying that it doesn't sound all that appealing to me.

my friend played "professional" warcraft 3. he watched videos of games all the time and was invited to play in national conventions and at e3.
it is essentially just like watching your old games in football or any other sport. learn your own mistakes, the weakness of the opponent, or new strategies.

every EA game thats put out on launch has been changed like this...FIFA is only international teams in the world cup. thats it, no leagues or anything. its basically like those old fifa games they used to make just for the world cup.
also, tiger woods only has 6 courses versus the 12 on the ps2/xbox 2006 version. pretty gay...but i gotta get madden cause i have to have football... 11/16/2005 2:01:49 PM |

new graphics obviously (i think theyre great), dynasty mode, online, exhibition i would assume. its basically a stripped down madden. little disappointing but atleast its not a "port" with shitty graphics and stuff. but letting little things like no challenge out of the picture, that bothers me. 11/16/2005 2:17:49 PM |
