My downstairs den area is fairly small-11 by 15 or so(I don't have a tape measure) and my ex's cat peed all in one corner....I have done EVERYTHING(vinegar, carpet cleaning, stain/odor removers) and I really just want to replace the carpet.
Where can I get some cheap? Thanks! 11/18/2005 5:34:58 PM |

if the cat limited the pissing to just a corner, then you shouldn't need to replace the carpet. the piss has saturated the padding beneath the carpet and probably the wood flooring. just pull back the carpet in the corner and remove the padding. you will see the urine stains on the wood. just keep pulling back and removing until the stain stops. buy a spray can of Kilz stainblocker (available in the paint section at lowes or home depot) and spray the stains until well covered. also buy a section of padding from same store. staple it down after the Kilz dries. then lay your carpet back down and your done. 11/18/2005 10:17:30 PM |

but if you do just want to replace everything, a company will charge you about $300 for a room that size. 11/18/2005 10:37:59 PM |

The habitat for humanity re-use place has it for 50 cent a square foot soooo, I might go there. The carpets have been cleaned top and bottom (as well as the pad) multiple times..it is just time for new carpet. 11/19/2005 1:13:48 AM |

again, you must stainblock the wood or else that odor will keep coming back. 11/22/2005 9:52:55 PM |
