Haven't played since 2002, but i found my cd case with the cd in it, and wanted to start playing again...

are servers still available?

I remember you had to update it every now and then, but i can't figure out how to get it working..

Anyone else still playing that can help me out?

I can't remember CS back in 2002 (v1.6 maybe?), but if you want to play the new spankin' version, you'll need to install Valve's Steam client (http://www.steampowered.net). You'll need an original CD-key of some Valve product (original HL counts) in order to use it. The client is mostly there to prevent cheating/keep programs up to date.

Install CS, install Valve client and then you can play CS. Not near as many servers as there used to be but still people play...even a NCSU server.
