Holy shit. I'm with Ivan on this one. I ain't a new Charger fan...it's just too clunky. These cars, on the other hand, capture the true essence of muscle Chrysler.

if someone cracks mopar's engine management system i'll purchase one but it hasn't happend yet and i won't ever leave a car stock so if i can't put some flavor of forced induction on it i don't want it.

exactly. those cars are sweet. hopefully the bean counters and marketing douchebags won't fag it up before it goes to production.

hahah cause standalones can't control the weird ass dual spark plug per coil setup nor the funky displacement on demand setup either..

2 fast 2 furious

(cept i hate body kits like sleepers so i guess the only thing that makes me remotely close to them is a love for efi and how it works)

Detroit is gonna be hot this January. Damn first the Camaro concept will be unveiled and now the Challenger too. I almost wish I made the coin to go to this myself now. Gonna be some drooling going on in 50 days!

are you telling me you are using 800 x 600 resolution?

because those pics are under 1024 pixels in width.

not my fault you are using an ancient/kiddie monitor.

wow. can't wait. I wonder how it'll be priced? I wonder how much weight they can cut off the LX platform because right now a charger is significantly heavier than a mustang or gto. didn't even give it a second thought until just now, but it looks like it's (b) pillarless! that's fucking hot. Isn't the CLK the only pillarless coupe available right now? The c pillar looks more than strong enough to compensate. You just know there's a convertible coming too... That might pre-empt a 300c-helios of some kind.... hmmm

^I can't imagine it having dramatically different suspension from the other LX cars, so that at least means no solid-rear

umm just cause its the back pillar doesn't mean its the c.... they go a,b,c,d,etc. from front to back... so... that would be the "B" pillar since there isn't one behind the door.

i'm not trying to be an ass just letting you know

^ i am not too sure about that.

if that's the case, how can there be b-pillar-less cars?

the second one should be the b, not the c.

that concept in the spy pics is a b-pillar-less car.

^sorry. so used to referring to the pillars on either side of the rear screen as the c pillar. duly noted.

I've been wondering that myself. I was somewhat dissappointed in the 0-60 times for the Charger w/the Hemi. Sure its a big body sedan but it generates quite a bit more horespower than my Z-28 and still can't catch it. You have to go with the SRT-8 version to start getting them to run with me.

gg dodge on fucking up another beautiful car with this retro-nostalgia bullshit.

at least they didnt give it 4-doors like the charger.

[Edited on November 25, 2005 at 11:24 AM. Reason : how about you put your designers to work and make up something NEW?]

^ yeah I mean look at how much success GM has had by making the GTO look nothing like the original. It's obviously doing much better than the retro look of the '05 Mustang...

The whole point is to sell cars.

It amazing how certain people get closed minded in their views of vehicles.

I understand beauty is in the eye but you are a moron if you think dodge fucked something up with this one, and I don't say that from an opinion point of view, I say it from they hit the nail right on the head with a blend of old and new.

yeah, maybe... im not saying it doesnt look good, but this retro crap is stupid. this is the best one i've seen, tho.

GTO, mustang, challenger, charger.. is it THAT hard to come up with a new idea?

The way I see it is that a b-pillar-less car would be a four door sedan without the pillar between the front and rear doors. Most every coupe would be b-pillar-less, no?

Designers should only receive half pay for retro-styled cars.

This doesn't even have retro "cues." It's a damn 70's Challenger with a little streamlining.

heavy yes, thirsty? depends on your definition. I'm sure they'll offer the challenger with at least the biggest v6, the 3.5L, and in a lighter car than the charger, and a manual, it's likely to get way better mileage than anything that could really be deemed "thirsty." Of course the 6.1L version will consume fuel. That's almost part of the point. But I bet the DC-GM hybrid research partnership intended initially for the SUVs will trickle down to the cars that share powertrains soon enough... meaning....LX platform chryslers and dodges. So.... bite your damn tongue. it's 515 am... why am I on this thread?

it's just a matter of time. there's just really no demand for any aftermarket products yet. i'm sure there's plenty of people out there that can easily or already have it figured out.

Perhaps the Charger should have been done the way this one was, but you couldn't call this a Charger. That would be akin to calling the new Mustang a Cougar. When something is so closely tied stylistically to a car of the past, you can't give it a different name. It just wouldn't be right.
