I've got an IBM R40 laptop and for some reason my dvd player will not read backup dvds when I pop them in. It doesn't think that anything is in the player. It will read regular dvds fine though. My friends laptop plays the backup dvds no problem so I don't know why mine is not reading them. Any help would be greatly appreciated

"Backup DVDs"?

Would these happen to be DVD-RWs?

you're probably using a +R disc and your reader can only read -R
