Is it just me, or have they (the media) already given the Heisman to Bush. Overlooking what an outstanding player Young is, the media has rallied over Bush since the Fresno game. I have yet to see Young on any show, or Quinn for that matter who has put up more stats than both.

Reggie Bush is very good.

Reggie Bush was a finalist for the Heisman last year.

This year he's actually going to win it.

Good point. He got ripped off last year, but that shouldn't count nor have anything to do with this year.

^^ The award for the best player in college football shouldn't have anything to do with who the best player in college football is?

Last I checked it didn't have any kind of "over a year" clause attached.

The guy is Bush and Leinhart combined
It's a shame that people don't see that. Everyone followed Young until the Fresno game. Sorry ass Fresno state (who didn't play any notable teams this year at all) and has a lack luster defense, let Bush ass-rape them. Now woooooooo Bush Bush Bush.
I like Bush, the guy is badass. But the media has helped him along with Leinhart, White-ummmm Marcus Allen, The PTI anchors, damn near everyone on sports center.

I was on the Young bandwagon until the Fresno game.

I personally think the NC could decide it.

Young has yet to run all over highly ranked defenses. Bush on the other hand has by himself TORN APART highly ranked ones. Young struggled badly against one of those good containment teams and he will struggle against USC, Carroll has his #...and Texas will get blown out, USC is too good and too deep in all areas, not just QB like Texas.

Texas' D is pretty tough in it's own right, so they're not necessarily dependent on Young.

^^i dont read your post normally because you are retarded when it comes to sports....but prove to me how much deeper Texas is than USC position by position and depth at those positions.

also, USC has been to this dance twiceeeeeee, won it twiceeeeeeee, they know the routine much much better and can focus better.

In the NFL, whos gonna do better....Bush or Young? Bush of course....Leinhart or Young....Leinhart if you ask me, hes got more teams he could fit into..therefore

Bush
Leinhart
Young

Hands down dumbest statement/comparrison ever made. Why would he have to prove that he can run as a QB when he can just pass all over you. See Ohio state game, 270 yards passing: one of the best D's in the country.

And 76 yards rushing

IMO bush should win because he stands out on a team full of standouts

texas team is made up of like 4 top 2 recruiting classes. thats why mack brown was under so much pressure. they have more talent than anybody although they dont have a 2nd star on offense so the offense goes as young goes which imo excuse him to have a bad game here and there and still win the heisman.

and usc hasnt even played a good defense so bush couldnt have torn any apart. fresno was the only decent defense they played all season

Because there are better quarterbacks.

Vince Young isn't the best pure quarterback in the NCAA.
Vince Young might be the best scrambling QB in the NCAA.

So to win the Heisman, he has to prove that he's better than the person viewed as the best pure QB and that the combination of his skills make him better than the person viewed as the best running back.

I think Bush will be a solid back in the NFL, but I don't expect him to live up to all of the comparisons to NFL greats he's been getting.

I don't think Leinhart will be that good, he'll get stuck on a bad team and he won't be nearly as good as USC's offense has made him out to be.

Vince intrigues me, not sure what's going to happen with him, not sure if he'll switch positions or some team will pick him up as a back-up QB.

He's a good passer and a good scrambler.

But if we're going to look at just passing, Leinart and Quinn obviously have better numbers.

Here's the thing, if you're going to say he's the best college football player, you've got to find something he is the best at. While he's probably without a doubt the best scrambling quarterback (and has a great arm to boot), I'm not sure that puts him ahead of the more proto-typical Leinart who is a better "pure" quarterback.

true indeed. He is the epitome of what QB is, and what the NFL salivates for. Height, strength, speed, arm power, accuracy. This spells potential. Those other guys are good, but they won't produce in the next level. Bush will go to a sorry team with no line, Leinhart & Quinn ,hell they might end up bench warmers.
How can u say that this dude is not a pure QB? What more do you want.

So in order to win the Heisman he has to be a better runner than Bush, and passer than Leinhart, at the same time? Insanity dude. PURE insanity

Im not sure but I think i remember him destroying UCLA, Oregon, didnt destroy them but did veryyy well against Notre Dame. then there is Cal and Fresno St.

and Vince has destroyed who? thats right he barely got by Texas A&M's actually good defense.

Leinhart is better than young, heck Quinn is a better passer than young. and theres not much room on teams for A Vick style QB, most NFL teams dont want a QB like him, even Vicks team wants a passer out of him and less of a runner...so explain that.

First off you're wrong. None of those teams mentioned have good defenses. I don't even think they play defense on the west coast.
Young has destroyed everyone he has played against except Texas A&M (he had a bad game damn, it happens)
Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado are you serious???wow The conference itself is tougher than the Pac 10s. 18-29 270yds, and 70 yds rushing against The Ohio State Buckeyes......thats' not destroying?

Quote :
"and theres not much room on teams for A Vick style QB, most NFL teams dont want a QB like him"

Wow...just wow. Why wouldn''t a team want a guy who can sit in the pocket AND throw AND take off on your ass. He dosn't automatically look to scramble like vick. He just evades sacks. He's damn near sack proof. He would prevail against all the blitzing schemes in the NFL, because one guy can't tackle him.

Leinhart can barely work the pocket. His stats (or the majority) are due to his great line. He is never pressured. I haven't watched Quinn enough to comment on his style, but im sure it dosn't hold a candle to Young's from what i have seen.

those teams u mentioned them running over are terrible this year, the teams USC has stomped has done much better, how many of them are playin in big time bowls compared to the losers to Texas?

Bush
Leinhart
Young/Quinn

thats now my list

i cant believe someone mentioned UCLA as having a good defense...yes, giving up 230 + yds a game on the ground is a great fucking D. Reggie Bush is amazing, but to say Vince Young or Texas isnt as good, is just being blind or dumb or both.

USC has had to outscore teams in many games to gain a victory. Texas has had a great combination of offense/defense, scoring under 40 points just once, even going as far as to beat Ohio State, who was an outside national championship contender going into the last weekend (if USC/Texas had lost).

Anyone who says this game is going to be a blowout by USC just needs to ban himself from Sports Talk. If they can't blow out Fresno, or Notre Dame (no offense, the Irish are nasty), what in the hell makes you think they are going to blow out a team who has been handling it's business all year?

Just GTFO away, please

the teams in the big12 may be bad but they play defense. almost all of the big12 are defense based teams. the pac10 is all offense and shootouts. none of uscs opponents play defense. (with the exception of fresno who plays in the wac for petes sake)

notre dame is the same defense/team that got shittid on by 4-6 michigan state at home

Bush, and it's not close. He is the best college player, and a much better pro prospect than Young, who is not even the best college QB or best QB pro prospect. Leinart has won it, that's why he gets no consideration this year. Of course, Bush should thank him for that 4th and 9 in South Bend, that's why he's the front runner. Young complained that he got taken out at halftime of a few games because of blowouts (stats), well UT's D is much more stout than the Trojans. Counter, Reggie has to share time with this Lendale White guy who will be better in the pros than Young. Young claims voters should look at his leadership. Newsflash, when youre touted as the leader, you don't brag about it or voice your approval, this is an example of where a cliche should be used like "I just try to do my part" etc etc...

On a technical note, for voters wanting Bush, wouldn't it be a good idea to vote Young 4th, because all votes 1st-4th count?? So would Leinart ideally select 1)Bush 2)Himself 3)Quinn 4) young

Reggie Bush gets more all purpose yards then Young week end and week out. And he has more weapons on his team. Last week, Reggie has somethign like 263 yards and his team scored 66 pts...vince young only had 250 all purpose and hes a QB and his team had 70 pts. Its like this every week. Bush should definitly win it over Young.

and Eric, how can you say USC has to outscore people when they held UCLA to 13 pts last week..one of the most high powered offense in the country. Their defense is bad...but they keep people out of the endzone.

The kid is young so he's gonna say dumb shit onT.V, get it??? he's YOUNG

And what is your definition of a better QB. Now i can deal with the argument for Bush. But battering young to the ground under leinhart is crazy now. You are totally on your own on that one. Young has everything Leinhart has and more. Except for a 90210 area code. Leinhart is highly overrated, highly. Bush should have won it last year ( but thats a whole diff note).

Two Heisman candidates on one team, barely beat Notre Dame(really lost that game). Now think about that before you criticized Texas or Young.

another thing, USC hasn't played anyone. Notre Dames' Defense Sucks. USC's achilles heel is there defense, which will get exploited by Young, and dem' texas boyz.

Oh' and to a certain point its stupid to compare a Rb's stats to Qb's stats, and allow that to decide who is better. Think about that one now. Even the all purpose comparrison gives it no validity. Look at the texas Qb simmons from last year(or was it the year b4 last) owned everyone in the passing stat category. But did not win the Heisman. My point is stats have to be interpreted.
