What exactly are you trying to say? That the witnesses should have been identified and displayed in a country where people involved in the case have been getting killed left and right?

I do have to chuckle at teh L3ft going all crazy over stuff like this, Iraqi prisoner torture, etc...

What happened to "OMF you just can't impose American standards on indigenous peoples!!1"?

TGD: I never said you could. I think it's the argument of you whore and others like you that Iraq is a free country. DoD has regular press conferences where some officers greet American journalists from a "free nation of Iraq".

I'm saying it's not free, it never was, it will never be.

P.S. And I think you sick fuck really need to get out at least occasionally if you seriously think "not torturing"="imposing American standards" and "torturing"="not imposing American standards". You seem to suck Republican dick so much, that what's left of your brain doesn't get enough of old plain oxygen.

Grumpy: Uhm, yes. If the trial is anythng but a circus.

OK. So the lesson is, "Witnesses only count if they're willing to die to give their testimony."

Oleg: don't get mad at me b/c your argument is baseless. Vitriol is a poor a replacement for principle. We know you're all hypocrites, just accept it and wear it with pride

ummm, I don't think "muslims" were ever the most advanced culture on the planet. They lost that distinction loooooooooong before islam ever came along. If anything, Islam kept them in the dark ages, as religion does tend to do...

^ actually it is quite funny that if not for islam europe might never have really gotten out of the dark ages. Islam and the muslim/arab world became the repository for all the classical knowledge (greek, roman, etc) and later reintroduced them into europe helping to spawn the revival of literature, art, science that ended the dark ages. in a sense the islamic world helped to create the western world that fundamentalists feel threatened by. for a lengthy period the islamic world was the center of "civilization" as we'd commonly refer to it today.

Indeed, the Islamic world was indeed the most advanced culture that had contact with Europeans (I don't want to count out the Chinese). But, just like the Europeans backslid into the dark ages, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that Islamic culture has backslid since its height.

There is a cycle to this sort of thing. You have your ups and downs.

Eveyone on trial should have a right to know who their accusers are. Otherwise joe blow with a vendetta could say any kind of wild shit and have it be taken as fact.

Saddam may have been a bastard but that doesn't make him nonhuman.

come again? you argued both at length, that we not only can't but that even if we could it would be "morally questionable" to do so.

so regardless of which word you insert into my quote, the net meaning is identical...
