...so far this season.
I should like, change my title to the Top 5 Guy.
Anyway, here is ze list. <For those of you that hates the NBA, stfu>
In no particular order...
Tim Duncan - The super glue that holds the titanic together.
Kevin Garnett - There's a reason he goes #1 on many fantasy basketball lists...he does everything for his team.
Rip Hamilton - He's stepped up this year as the offensive star. Very consistent.
Dirk Nowitski - He's played like an MVP so far, and Dallas' record has been somewhat surprising.
Steve Nash - No Joe Johnson, no Amare Stoudamire, no Q Richardson, and they've had a couple of injuries (Barbosa, for example) and they're still tearing teams up left and right.
Outside looking in..
Pau Gasol - Shaggy is playing great. Too bad he may never seen an all star game with all the power forward talent ahead of him.
Kobe - He's my boy, but even I can't put him up in the Top 5 because of his horrendous shooting percentage. If he shot closer to 50%, he'd definitely be up there (Heck, if he shot 50%, I'm sure the Lakers would be a couple games over .500)
LeBron - He doesn't have to work as hard with the improved talent around him.
D Wade - Has had to put nearly everything on his shoulders with Shaq out. Lucky for him Zo Mourning is a more than competent backup.
AI - Scoring leader always gets an "A" for effort (unless it's practice). Who knows where the Sixers would be without him. 12/7/2005 11:26:25 PM |

Because I don't think he's one of the top 5-10 players in the league.
I do admit that having J Kidd and Vinsanity as teammates don't help much (Kinda like the whole Matt Leinart/Reggie Bush thing).
^ ITS BECAUSE HE SPITS HOT FIRE

He sprained his ankle the first game of the season.
He should be playing again sometime in the next week (he's finally practicing now)
And kudos to Jerry Buss for getting rid of him, knowing that he wouldn't be able to last a whole season (he oughtta be with the kind of money he's getting paid..) 12/8/2005 10:50:54 AM |

This year?
Duncan, KG, AI, Kobe, Lebron.
Marion, Nash, Arenas, Wade, Richardson, Pierce, Gasol, and Brand are all having really good years. I would usually put T-mac in there, but he's hurt. Marcus Camby is having a huge year...top 10-15 for the year. 12/8/2005 11:23:20 AM |

I can still remember two different occasions when he dropped 37 and 40 already this season. He's shooting over 50% from the field and leads the league in 3 pt percentage (he hasn't taken that many though).
It's just pretty watching him play.
Okay, now on second thought, I'd take him out of the top 5 and put Gasol in, instead.
I want to give more credit to AI, but his team's record is hurting his stock. And his team is too good to not be over .500 (especially in the eastern conference..)12/8/2005 2:09:29 PM |

best analogy i ever hear was that kevin garnett was a "lunchbox" player
like a blue collar lunch box type kinda guy, shows up everygame and plays as hard as he can day in and day out
i got mad respek for the guy 12/8/2005 2:35:24 PM |

^^ He's #12-13 on my list.
Didn't forget about him though. He's somehow got the Clip Clips to be the better team in Los Angeles over my beloved Lakers. 12/8/2005 3:11:22 PM |

Well I did say "so far this season". In my eyes, I'm implying that team success has something to do with the best players. 12/8/2005 5:01:08 PM |

if team success has something to do with it then there is no reason that Elton Brand is not in the top 5 ... he's having MVP type numbers and the Clippers are having their best start since the 70's 12/8/2005 9:40:48 PM |

Brand is averaging 25pts, 10.6 reb (4 of them offensive), 2.75 blocks, 3 fouls and only 2 turnovers a game ... wow!
not only is he producing big numbers, but he's not turning the ball over 5 times a game like a lot of big names and he's staying out of foul trouble playing smart basketball 12/15/2005 6:37:04 PM |
