you haven't given enough information in your question to get a meaningful response.
as your question is phrased currently, the answer is 1 pixel.

sorry, the office at work needs to get a camera that can print out at 300 dpi for advertising purposes. They currently have a 3.2 mp that is only giving them 72 dpi. I just don't know what digi for @ or under $500 will work for the 300 dpi resolution when printing for ads. 12/9/2005 10:59:05 AM |

Seriously.
Magnet.
DPI stands for DOTS PER INCH.
IF YOU DO NOT TELL US HOW LARGE OF A PHOTO YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE
AT 300 DPI
THEN YOUR QUESTION IS MEANINGLESS. 12/9/2005 11:15:56 AM |

all i know is this is for a real estate ad mag. some of the pix are tiny, some aren't, but i can't get an answer from anyone as to what size they bought space for. I just found out that the camera an exemployee used was this nikon e8800 http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/product.aspx?ref=GoogleBC02&sku=NKCP8800 12/9/2005 11:16:55 AM |

Go to amazon.com
Look at the digiatal cameras. Go to the techical details tab and look for the maximum photo size. Let's say it's 3,072 x 2,304, which is the result for the first one I picked. Divide those dimensions by three humdred = about 10 x 6, which would be the max dimensions at 300dpi. 12/9/2005 11:23:35 AM |

Excoriator, is that how you make up for a failed social life...being a dick to people that don't know certain things tech related?
And don't give me bullshit about image size, you tried to help, blah blah blah.
It's pretty fucking blatantly obvious you are being a cocksucker. 12/9/2005 11:28:45 AM |

If you want advertising-quality pictures, expect to spend $700 or more on a SLR or semi-pro camera.
For your budget....Sony cybershot DSC-H1.

well, i know that if we wanted the professional pix i would need him to get a digital slr, but I just saw the Sony cybershot DSC-H1 in walmart for $480-$500. The thing that gets me is that they tell me to help them bcause they need it TODAY, but i can't get it from offline today. http://www.pricewatch.com has it for $420 with free 2-3 day shipping
the advertising agency just told me that they needed the file size to be atleast 3-400 kb for them to use it. I know that i don't know all about this topic, but it pisses me off when i asked people that should be able to answer me since they work with this shit all the time, and they just tell me a file size and nothing more..... off to hunting for a deal
