How does it compare to his tests that he has given during the semester? Any other feedback would be helpful also... 12/12/2005 1:47:12 PM |

when I took him the final wasn't hard nessessarily... just long. Like 18 or 19 questions. I knew all of the material and couldn't write fast enough to finish in the 3 hours.
hope that helps some 12/12/2005 2:04:41 PM |

It's definitely not the same as the semester tests. It is lengthy, as mentioned before, and the last few problems were from material that was rushed over and never clear. His final dropped me from a borderline A+ to a solid A-, and I spent like 4 hours on it.

i was really sick and even on the makeup day i still had a huge fever and felt like shit. i just kind of gave up so i could go back to sleep and i still had a good grade
and ps i didn't learn anything in that class and its catching up with my now i hope you enjoyed your patterns cause they are completely worthless when you really need to know the material 12/12/2005 3:47:56 PM |

Wow, 18-19 problems? How is this going to get graded in time when the test is tomorrow morning and grades are due by Wednesday? Jon, what do you mean patterns?

when i had him he didnt teach the material (i.e. the what and why you were doing stuff) he would only teach you how to solve things and he didnt even cover everything other sections covered
thats all fine and dandy when the information is presented like that but when you actually have to use the stuff and understand the concepts of what you are doing you wont be able to 12/12/2005 4:30:06 PM |

^^ Yes, It was 14 questions, but they were difficult. The hardest ones were the material we covered last, and they were harder than the ones on the 3rd exam. There was one problem we have never done before. There goes my A probably. 12/13/2005 12:05:49 PM |

I'm definitely am not getting an A in this class. After that final I'll be happy with a B-. It was so much worse than I expected . . . 12/13/2005 1:13:56 PM |

here is my quote from school tool:
Quote : | "All semester I thought Hong was awesome. He is funny and very animated. He made harder material seem simple. He actually just made the course seem simple. This was until his final exam. I had an A+ in the class and dropped to a B+ bc he put problems on the exam that were like nothing we had on the homework or previous tests... which is what I had studied! I would take him again but I was pretty pissed about the final." |
he threw some problems on there i had never seen before. i don't know if we were supposed to just figure out how to do them with our existing knowledge, or if i came late one day while i went over this stuff but the majority of the test were problems that were new to me and i had no idea how to do them. i left that test knowing i failed and severely pissed off.12/13/2005 1:34:16 PM |

I'm pretty sure he went over everything on the final. Granted, he covered some of it very quickly, but I didn't see anything I hadn't seen before--I just didn't remember how to do them all.
I actually thought 12-14 were some of the easier ones on the test. I know I got 14 completely right and probably pretty close on 12 and 13. 12/13/2005 1:46:00 PM |

Yes, that test was quite a surprise. I'll probably have to audit an MA341 class down the road to make sure I actually get this stuff. A lot of the problems that had the matrices before didn't have them this time around (you know, the y'=(matrix)y ones, etc were turned into two sets of problems this time around). However I think I saved myself based on something I read in my notes last night (thankfully I just wrote down everything on the board, plus the work).
I would still be happy with just a B in that class after that.
Also, didn't he say that he hated the surprises that professors would put on the final exam?
I'm just glad I got it out of the way. I was sick (and in the ER for 3 hours under watch) sunday, and did my best to study for the test today. (I knew he had to leave after our class and I figured it would've been best if I just got the test out of the way.)
I don't think that I would've done that much better if I was healthy though.
I just hope he grades gently, that was rather different from his tests (which were terribly easy). 12/13/2005 1:58:26 PM |

Natchela,
Do you remember the Equilibriums for 13, and 14.. I remember something along the lines of (0,1), (0,-1) for 13 and (2,0),(-2,0) for 14. I think i got (1,1) (-1,1) for 12 or something similiar. On 14 I may have screwed up because I ended up with 2 circles. 12/13/2005 2:06:51 PM |

^^sounds like what I got. The only thing that I'm really not sure about with those is that on number 12, I had in spiraling inward at (-1,-1).... shit. That'd be why. I put the point in the wrong fucking spot even though I had the right numbers.
Yes, I hope she grades gently. 12/13/2005 10:04:25 PM |
