I can use DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB files from DVDs to my hard drive. Previously I had been using FlaskMPEG to convert them to AVIs. I had done almost all my movies and stored them on an external HD. Then a Delayed Write Failure destroyed the partition and I lost them all.

I've since changed OS's from Windows XP Pro SP1 to Windows XP MCE 2005 SP2 and FlaskMPEG crashes as soon as I start the re-encoding. In fact, so does everything else I've tried...

yes i do, but it is apparent i'm trying to find something to reencode DVDs to AVIs.
