I'm thinking about going for the 12inch

I like portability, and I want to learn OSX, and apples strike me as pretty cool
also I'm not a gamer, this would mostly be used for AIM/web/office/watching dvds
what should I know about them, what are some pros/cons

1. There's nothing to learn about OSX unless you meant the *NIX shell.
2. It is a poor choice for watching DVDs and/or any high definition content.

Wait a month or two, there are rumors afoot of the intel shits coming out in early 2006.

And yeah, I would say it's a cool thing to have as long as you don't mind watching videos on such a tiny screen.

Unless you really need an Apple immediately, I'd wait for the Intel based ones to come out in a month or two.

I don't think the one on slickdeals has DVD-R, though. The amazon page says "Surf the Web, chat with friends, do homework, play games, even burn DVDs and CDs to create your own video or musical masterpiece," but the specs say it only has the Combo Drive. Eh. I think that might be a deal breaker...
