I used google already and that didn't help.
Vets are like $60 and PetSmart in Apex is the only one that does cats and a shampoo is $40.
My cat is fat, hairy and smells like piss and has dingleberries and I can't wash her by myself anymore.
Anyone know of a good cheap place?

my cat is really fat and lazy and she apparently can't lick her own ass..we're in the process of training them to use the toilet which also makes her more dirty

I can't do it myself bc i'm 9 months pregnant and it's too hard to get in the tub with a cat that is freaking the fuck out

i don't know what to do with her
she steals the other cats food so I started putting her food up on the washer so she couldn't get to it and i cut their diet in half already
i feel like i'm starving the other one bc she can't control her eating

They have dry food out for them all the time and get a quarter of a can of wet food a day. I put the not so fat cat's food up on the washing machine but she won't eat it up there and she's always begging for food. I try not to fill up the dry food bowl until the next morning if they eat it all. If I switch to another dry food I think it will be the same.

do they eat the wet food as soon as you put it out? maybe try separating the cats when they eat the wet food...and then only put the dry out in the morning and in the evening (or whenever you can best monitor their feeding habits)

the fat one will eat the wet food immediately and they get it in the morning whenever we wake up

we fill up the dry food bowl in the morning as well and it lasts all day

the other one doesn't like her bowl on top of the washing machine so sometimes she doesn't eat it all...I started putting it up there because she would eat hers slowly and the fat one would take over and finish it

hm..I'd suggest putting the smaller kitty's canned food in a room she is comfortable in and closing her in there until she eats the food...but she might not like that too much. I dunno...sounds like the big one needs some exercise!

my friend has this problem too. i've solved it by feeding her cats in different rooms. it's hard to keep doing that if you are lazy, but it's very effective.

people think feeding animals together is a great thing, but it's not. the alpha will do it's thing.

don't starve your other cats.

my roomate gets her two cats shaved every 4-5 months.

i think she only pays 35-40 each and those are some FLUFFY cats...

is your cat well-behaved because a lot of places charge less or more depending on attitude.

also... durham is a lot cheaper than raleigh and cary when it comes to shaving cats.

If you need to talk to my roomate, she won't be back in town till the 27th-- but I can let her know.

find her toys that spark her curiosity...feathers on strings, balls, stuff like that. Try to interact with her each day...but honestly I think changing her diet will be the biggest factor in helping her lose weight. Ask your vet what suggestions he/she has with the feeding issue

Recommended by my vet, although my cat never got that big!

1. get rid of the wet food. Wet food is a LOT more calorie heavy and not as good for cats. Just cut it out all together (at least for the large one).

2. the above poster is right, feed them in different rooms. That way you can shut one in one room, the other in a second room. Nobody starves, or eats the others food.

3. Pricy, but a goodbrand is Nutro - Petsmart has it. Their weight management food has directions on the back for both weight loss and management and how much to give your cat (dependant on their current weight). I had quite good luck with my cat on it, and frankly shouldnt have taken her off it. (put her on regular cat food and she just gained it back, have her on indoor cat food now and she's lost a little i think, i'll either keep her on that or put her back on the weight management food).

I feed my begger dry food once a day, occasionally with a little extra about 12 hours later if she's very insistent and i'm sure she's actually hungry.
i feed it to her about 6pm and she knows, there's no more coming untill at least 8am the next morning if i give her any then, usually till next day at 6pm. Whether she eats it all at once or over the course of the day is of course, up to her.

A good way to help a cat lose weight is to put it outside. It will start to want to chase things around, thus getting exercise, thus losing weight. And only feed it once or twice a day with small portions, and put it outside if it begs. If you cat isn't use to outside, just sit outside with it.

This is unrelated, but fat humans sometimes have problems grooming themselves too, which is why some fat people stink (because they can't reach certain parts of their bodies).

I'd be willing to come help you bathe the kitty if you don't have any luck anywhere else. I have 3 kitties and I give em baths and I think I do a pretty good job. None of my cats are quite as big as yours, but I'd be glad to give you a hand. One of my cats even likes to be blowdried .
