Anyone know when State will release their 2006 schedule? I heard January, but many schools already have their 2007 schedules out. Why is the ACC taking so long?

usually february

Unbackupable rumors:

the Akron game is 9/9
the S. Miss game is 9/23
the ECU game is 11/25

I would guess that we open the season with the defending National Champions

we'll have a fairly tough schedule next year with the only cupcake games being Akron and App. State at home. S. Miss away should present a challenge, and i would expect that ECU has improved slightly since that 2004 beatdown, and the stadium should be electric for this rivalry game. i'm really looking forward to the UVA game away. i've never been there, and plan on going up. other notable away games that should be difficult include CU and UMD, as well as the UNC game, not b/c either UNC or State is a great team, but b/c both teams play each other hard usually. be prepared for not having much luck against the ACC at home this upcoming year. we have BC, FSU, GT, and WFU as the home ACC opponents. while all 4 are winnable, they won't be easy, and i would feel very good if we go 2-2 in those games. i'm going to remain optimistic, but i'm prepared for barely making 7-5 with wins coming against all four of our OOC opponents and three more coming against WFU, UNC and UMD. UVA will perhaps be a swing game, as well as BC, and FSU, GT, and CU will probably be losses.

Akron is no cupcake. They went 7-5 this year and won their conference championship game. They are in the Motor City Bowl which is better than our bowl. How are they an easy game?

here's there schedule with results. they aren't a terrible team, but they are the type of team that you can pencil in as a win.

they lost to Central Michigan, Army, Buffalo, and Ball State. those sure are some powerhouses.

You can pencil them in as a win but I will not. Any team that goes 7-5 is not a cupcake. I cannot believe you consider them cupcake and think that EZU will challenge us.

oh i never thought ECU would challenge us. i just think it will be a closer game than the 2004 game. our depth (which isn't saying much) will help us pull away in the second half. we could have easily had 7 wins this season, but most wouldn't consider us a good team either. 7-5 in MAC play does not impress me much. that's like saying oh App. State won the Div. I-AA championship, they aren't a cupcake. we should pretty much manhandle them as well as Akron. my prediction is we beat Akron 27-7, perhaps 24-10.

ECU is a rival, albeit not to the level that UNC is. State fans talk crap about ECU all the time, and so does ECU fans. if it wasn't a rivalry why would State fans always feel the need to refer to ECU as EZU, and make that "the good, the bad, and the who?" sign to degrade them. also there is still some bad feelings between State and ECU fans b/c of the Miami vs. ECU game @ C-F fiasco.

Even our game against UNC Choke Hill can be second rate to other teams we play...aka Maryland, FSU, Wake Forest, Clempson

Thursday night games are great exposure for the program. Playing FSU, and assuming we'll play them tough, is even better exposure.

This schedule should set up better for the team this year. Last year it sucked to start out with such a hard team then have a dropoff to EKU. The games this year look like they increase in difficulty up until the FSU game, so hopefully we wont lose focus...which is the last thing this team can do after losing so much talent.

^,^^ Actually it's not till 2008 & 2009 that we play them again. They are the last Coastal opponent to cycle in. 2007 is when Miami cycles in. (2006 UVA, 2005 GT, 2004 VT)

Don't forget that we are nc state. On any given day we could potentially lose to a pee wee football team.

As long as we beat UNC. I can't even remeber the last time I saw us beat UNC in either football or basketball. Maybe 2 years ago? It's sad. A rivalry that goes the same direction nearly every time.
