I really want them to win so these tardbiscuits on ESPN can stop spending so much time comparing them to the teams of old. FFS.
Are their memories so short as to not remember the 4th down conversion that USC pulled out of its ass in the ND game?
Oh yea.

if by "pulled out of its ass" you mean "executed an illegal push," then sure. 12/21/2005 10:37:37 PM |

doesn't change the truthfulness of my point at all. He wouldn't have gotten in on his own (which would have actually made the play mean something in earnest), thus USC didn't really pull anything amazing out of their ass.12/21/2005 11:53:34 PM |

It's in the back, but it's not a block. 12/22/2005 12:16:37 AM |

I've said my peace to many people about the USC/Notre Dame bullshit ending. Don't want to re-hash much here.
First, its called "aiding the runner" and I've seen it called before, but its rare that they call it. Its also amazing that they don't call it when its blatant...not just in this game.
Thats not the play that pisses me off though. Its the fumble. With no timeouts, there should be a rule that you can't fumble out of bounds to stop the clock. I mean, what if Leinhart got stuck and rolled the ball out of bounds? The clock would have still stopped. Thats bullshit. The clock should keep running, like in the NFL. Also, how does the ball get spotted at the 1-foot line after the fumble? Should have been at the 2, or at least a full yard away. And, a USC coach called timeout. They didn't have any. Thats a penalty. Do I think they should have called that? No. Do I think they should have called "aiding the runner"? Yes. Leinhart doesn't score without that push. But, if they are going to go by the college rule that the clock stops on a bullshit fumble to save USC, then they should go by the rule that you can't call timeout when you don't have any.
The whole ending ruined what was quite possibly the best college football game I'd seen in a decade or more.
Leinhart decided to run. If he got in, thats fine. More power to him and USC. If he got stopped, they have no timeouts, game over. Either way, a great game. Fumble out of bounds shouldn't be able to stop clock, b/c like I say-you can just throw it out and it stops. You can't judge intent. What if he held it loosely knowing if he got stopped, it could just fly out. I doubt he did it, but thats why the rule should be there. So it doesn't matter. Thats why NFL has it.
Anyway, ND came up and made a HUGE play, stopping Leinhart a foot away from scoring. Game Over. But, total bullshit the rest of the way. For all intensive purposes, Notre Dame beat them. But refs did everything to make sure they scored. I despise USC and hope Texas beats there ass. 12/22/2005 12:48:24 AM |

I'm really quite tired of ESPN putting USC in the Vick/Favre "we'll blow you consistently" HOF before they've even won the title this year. 12/22/2005 12:59:07 AM |
