"inspired by true events" is so loosely used these days that doesn't mean anything. As far as you can tell, there might be one character in the movie that was murdered in a building one day, and that's the true event for the movie. 12/22/2005 11:23:46 AM |

I read a reveiw online about this movie and it looks outa control. Depending on if they want it NC-17 or R though. Lions Gate Films are associated with it, they did SAW and SAW 2 right. 12/22/2005 11:43:45 AM |

i read somewhere that the true events it refers to are different tales of international drug trafficking, slavery rings, and all sorts of crazy criminal behavior. so yea, inspired by true events doesn't mean anything. sounds like they just took the worst crime stories and combined them to gross us out. let's hope it works. 12/22/2005 2:57:51 PM |

Quote : | "The trailers bill the movie as "inspired by true events." Director Eli Roth says that he found a Thai website that advertised itself as a "murder vacation," offering users the chance to torture and kill someone for the price of $10,000. Roth later showed the site to Quentin Tarantino and the two developed the idea for the film. Tarantino and Roth said later on an Icelandic talk show that they have no idea if the website was real or not." |
From IMDB. They also claimed that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was "Inspired by a True Story"12/22/2005 3:38:38 PM |

Thats what one of the new commercials for the movie says, though I'm not sure I entirely believe it. Or at least believe it in the sense that its so scary it will give you seizures.12/27/2005 11:44:34 AM |

He's executive producer and "presenter". He worked with the director in the concept of the movie. He may have been given the role of executive producer since he was going to be involved in the movie and they wanted to use his name in the promotions.

i may be wrong, but i am betting that this movie is kind of tame. i mean it may be more messed up than a usual horror but fucked up in movie standards is still pretty tame. my fucked-up-shit-o-meter is pretty high, so i am betting it isnt that bad 1/5/2006 3:01:23 AM |

yeah, as far as gore goes i dont think it would threaten my stomach, after watching some of the cannibal movies, itch the killer, and other gore flicks. it'll all depend on the atmosphere, the horror of what is actually occurring, and how well they get it across. 1/5/2006 5:47:32 AM |
