I downloaded the software to convert my dvd's into the quicktime format. The video quality is perfect however when I go to playback the movie on my ipod there is no audio. I emailed the tech support from the software company but I have yet to hear back from. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how can I fix it?

2.5" screen for a DVD? Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I would claw out my eyeballs if I were forced to watch such a thing, much less would I or any sane person on earth spend TIME and money to do such a thing.

If I lived in DC or was on an airplane, I think I could live with a lightweight small player.

^^ why take the time to respond? It hasn't replaced my traditional dvd player it's just another alternative of something to do when i'm at work and bored out of my mind.

yea

Noen sucks at being a troll. Lots of people prefer to watch music videos/movies on iPods while flying.

Hey, I agree a PSP would be better for only the video aspect. Except for the ipod is smaller and can store much more data. A cross between the two would be spiffy.

No, I have never tried to really watch any length of video on the ipod.

^^ Use a pocket PC, or a PSP, or a fucking CELL PHONE (aka smartphones, decent sized lcd's). The screen is bigger with a better aspect ratio on any of the above.

Not to mention, the 30gb video gets a MAX of 2:30 minutes of video playback on a charge, not even enough to playback many movies.

the 60gb gets about 4 hours, but its also 400 bucks.

and the video looks like shit on anything BUT the ipod, because of the shit resolution and bitrate.

except that we are talking about watching video on an airplane / wherever.

You can now get the datamax for the PSP, aka 4gb of storage and 12-15 hours of VIDEO playback. Which equates to some rediculously long time for audio.

I own an iPod. I use it every day. I LOVE it for music. But even thinking about watching video on it makes me want to scratch my eyes out.

The PSP is better for Visual entertainment in EVERY way. Longer battery life stock, better resolution and it's got games if you want em.

Maybe he doesn't travel a lot and doesn't want to spend money on something he won't use a lot. And it's not like he's gonn really get into the movie. It's just something to kill time with.

Your argument was he doesnt travel so he should use what he has.

My response is he said he wants it to waste time at work, so why not use a computer?

If you are flying, the psp is worth the purchase.

If you don't fly enough and already own an iPod, there's no reason not to watch a movie on it.

Honest to god, I'd rather listen to music for the flight, than to watch anything on it for more than a couple of minutes.

So yes, I'd take nothing over the ipod for video. And pretty much every review for the thing has said the same thing.

probably so since I'm not trolling.

I am expressing my opinion, which has been backed up by pretty much every single review on the net and in print.

i guess all the nerds on the internet writing reviews wouldnt mind having a huge portable dvd player or psp clipped to their waistband, but for the rest of us that would be pretty dorky

yeah i got it figured out. i tried using the internet but to no end and then i tried the world wide web but when none of the search engines got indignant with me i just filtered out as much messageboard hatred as my system could handle and found the answer to my question buried deep inside my thread in the form of some jargon about "yeah. this is it" followed by a link

Except you can get the 4gb hard drive and x2 battery pack. Double the life, 4gb of storage.

And actually, there should be a usb external drive adapter out fairly soon to allow you to use an iPod or other external drive.

Keep in mind that the PSP plus the 4gb drive and extra battery costs significantly more than a 60gb iPod. Well, I haven't priced the drive online. But it costs about $250 in b+m stores.

And the psp isnt THE alternative.

It's not like the fucking iPod INVENTED handheld video.

30gb, mpeg4 that you can actually watch on a tv, dvr, can download directly from digital cameras, mp3/wma/wmv playback, 4" LCD, 4.5 hours of video playback in a REMOVEABLE battery.

It also supports xvid/divx (for those who dont realize what mpeg 4 is)

or the Cowon iAudio A2, same storage, 10 hours of video playback and its got an FM tuner.

Not there there aren't 10-20 others that are about the same and kick the shit out of the ipod for portable video.

The iPod is not a damn all in one device. It plays music very well. That's all it does well.

^You can find a PSP for 199 now, and the 4gb+battery for 179, it definitely aint cheap.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I'd buy if I were interested in portable video. Neither the iPod nor the PSP cut it for any extended period of time for me, but I don't have a lot of time to watch videos when I'm not at home anyway.

Don't forget, the iPod may only have a 2.5" screen, but it also has video output.

Also don't forget that the shows you can buy with iTunes look like absolute shit, so save your money and encode your own.

^^and the video output is worthless. Have you tried it? videos encoded for the ipod look like absolute crap on a regular tv.

And ever PVP that has ever come out has had tv output. It's not new.
