no dude on a date is going to want to have his girl see him flirting with the valet, and you'd have to flirt - its the key to getting tips

i'm not sure if i've ever seen a female valet

so you'd have to find something more along the country club line (groups of guys rolling up to play golf)

I was in DC two weeks ago and I saw female valet attendants there and they made huge tips and they didn't flirt.
They just parked the car and got their tip....you just need to be polite and address the guy/girl in a professional manner. It can be done and I know I will be good at it.
I just want ideas as to where and how I should apply because most places don't hire directly.
I want to know if anyone has done the job before and has some experience to hand over.

move to a city.

in my experiences, there arent too many places that valet in an area where parking isnt much of a problem (like raleigh, unless you are at a really nice place). in a city, every other restaraunt does it, because there is really no other option of parking places.

the company i know of (the name i can't remember) has many different places they valet for including cheesecake factory and pf changs at the mall, micheal dean's, and some other places around raleigh. you start at the mall ones and if you do well there you go to the nicer places. it really depends on where the company contracts out to what restaurants.

i was an attendant for the company at crabtree for a year. the name for it is the above mentioned royal parking. my boss was kind of a dick and he only hired one girl the whole time i worked there and he gave her NO hours or shifts that made any money. thanksgiving through valentines day is the only time you make any money and after that it aint shit. i love cars and got to drive some hot shit like the new RR phantom and some bentleys but the money got really stupid. i work at a homeless shelter now and its twice as much fun.

nah i think she was working another job but still the shifts she got were kind of bullshit. i doubt there was a reason behind it that was ill-motivated. we all had bullshit shifts at some point. usually 2 bad ones and 3 good ones. ive gotten big tips from some regulars that i got to know. they didnt have anything really pimp, just denail's and escalades but i think the biggest was one guy thatwould give me (or whoever was working when he rolled in with his family on weekends) a dub on the way in. he would come check on you halfway through the meal and give you another dub and when he left he hit you again with another dub. but then you get the people that give you a dollar. what the fuck am i gonna do with a dollar. peopel i nthis town DO NOT know how to tip or pay for services rendered.

parking cars sucks ass. i used to do it in charlotte, where there are a shit ton of places that the rich like to throw their money around, and it still sucks. making $150-$200 in a night isn't that much fun when its friday & saturday and you're standing in a parking lot till 3 am. not to mention tha most nights you'll just make enough money to fill your gas tank on the way home. drving the cars is cool for like the first 2 weeks, then you realize you generally don't take them above 20 mph so the luster wears off. parking at a mall sucks unless they have the roped off area for valets; hotels just plain suck. country clubs are the shit to park at. all old people (you're home by midnight), all rich, all nice cars. just don't be of those chicks who gets all flustered and starts yelling/crying the first time she can't find a car or a car won't start.

I used to work as a valet at Sullivans. Pay would average out to around $15-18 an hour. We were hired by McLauren Parking Company. There are some shit gigs and some good gigs. Go down to their office and apply.

In LA they have an all-female valet service that staffs some of the expensive restaraunts out here. Those girls make off like strippers, but of course they look like strippers too.

the place i worked in charlotte didn't interview or test you at all. you had to do downtown and get a background check to give to them, then you filled out all the tax papers, they made a copy of your SS card and driver's license and you were on the schedule the next week. your training was showing up at a restaurant and the older valets telling you what to do. don't get the wrong idea by my first post - it's a great way to pick up a little extra cash pretty quick. but i wouldn't recommend making a career out of it, especially if you like going out at night. the only guys i knew who enjoyed their jobs were those working at the palm (and had been for 2 years) 5 days a week and making $700+/week.

it sucks. i valeted in charlotte also. its freezing in winter, a lot of shifts don't make you much money, and your weekends are dead. if you have a friend to work most of your shifts with, and get a good place you work at regularly, then its not so bad.
