That's not an issue -in- science so much as it is an issue between science and idiots.

Tell me about it. Inorganic matter/big explosion + nothing but passage of time = complex living organisms. M-O-R-O-N-S.

Yeah, so like I was saying, the only people for which it's a debate are the people who, ironically, don't understand the nature of the debate. As our friend salisburyboy just posted.

because, salisburyboy, the debate isn't really whether creationism or evolution is correct. it's over which one is scientific and/or justifiably taught in public schools

ok, let's talk about all those proven hoaxes the pro-evolutionist "scientists" put forward as "missing links"--like java man and piltdown man

or Haeckel's faked embryo drawings

what science is there to actually support the theory of evolution? more mere theories?

the fossil record supports creationism--many diverse species coming on the scene suddenly, no genuine "transitional fossils" have been found

common sense supports creationism. inorganic matter doesn't magically turn into complex living organisms due to nothing but passage of time. it's a completely bogus theory

the universe if finite in time. it had to have a beginning and an ultimate first cause (ie, an entity that has existed forever). logically, this infinite first cause must be an intelligent and powerful being

only die-hard so-called athiests (and those who have been duped) actually believe the theory of evolution. and many of those who claim to believe it probably really don't believe it.

evolution is a tenet of the atheist/secular humanist religion. so, religion is already being taught in the public schools...the secular humanist religion. and the fact that they won't allow an alternative to evolution to be taught along side the theory of evolution is evidence that the public schools are forcing a secular humanist agenda on the nation's children. that, and the fact that they teach the theory as if it were a fact.

No, it's not. That is, if we're talking about the prehistoric evolution of various species. It cannot be disproven by the use of the scientific method. It also cannot be proven by the scientific method.

If you say it can be disproven by the scientific method - how?

The best we can do is look at the evidence as a whole, and see which theory it weighs more heavily toward. That's not proof. That's assumption, and although it may be reasonable/justifiable, it's still assumption.

and that's why you must show how evolution is falsifiable by use of the scientific method.

All we have at this point is assumption and assertion. A powerful combination on the internet, but that doesn't make it any more true.

Five seconds on google:

Quote :
"Claim CA211: Any fact can be fit into the theory of evolution. Therefore, evolution is not falsifiable and is not a proper scientific theory.

There are many conceivable lines of evidence that could falsify evolution. For example:
* a static fossil record;
* true chimeras, that is, organisms that combined parts from several different and diverse lineages (such as mermaids and centaurs);
* a mechanism that would prevent mutations from accumulating;
* observations of organisms being created.

None of those things would falsify evolution, but merely show that it is less likely to have happened. You can have a static fossil record, or merely one with every single 'link' missing - and it would not falsify evolution. This is where the creationists' typical argumentation is worthless....even if they prove what they're looking for (that there are no links, no observance of gradual changes, etc.), the case is not closed. That's not proof that is able to falsify evolutionary claims.

The existence of true chimeras likewise wouldn't do it. The theory you're working under would then simply have to be altered - not ruling out evolution itself. The understanding of it has changed greatly over the past 100+ years, such that the original theory is barely recognizable as the same thing. As evidence and such comes in, the theory adapts - but it cannot be truly falsified empirically.

Naturalistic evolution certainly can be falsified, but not by use of the scientific method, which is all we're concerned about here.

since evolution is a scientific thoery, it is by definition can be falsified. the experts do agee that evolution is falsifiable.

i can think of 100 way to falsify evolution.

1. no genetic variations in species over time
2. people have observed new species being created from something non-living
3. traits within species do not vary
4. the earth is found to be only 5,000 years old
ect ect

there are millions of ways to falsify the idea that life evolves.

if evolution wasnt falsifiable, the scienftific community would not believe it. thats not how science works. there are no scienific theories that arent falsifiable.
