Download a program called "CPU-Z", will be able to identify processor and memory. 1/14/2006 10:42:41 AM |

^I've found that Windows doesn't always display the processor correctly. I usually use Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html just to make sure, plus it tells you all kinds of other crap like what kind of memory, mobo, video, etc. 1/14/2006 1:05:55 PM |

yeah if the first method doesn't work either of those programs is the way to go.
like when windows gives you that family model stepping crap, or if you just want to know more about what you have. 1/14/2006 4:34:49 PM |

*sigh*. This is what I get for trying to help. CPU-Z is freeware and I've used it a number of times when doing RAM upgrades. Its also useful if you are trying to figure out exactly what processor you have for overclocking, hyperthreading, etc. etc. What Windows hardware tells you really doesn't mean crap.1/14/2006 6:26:11 PM |

by far the easiest way of finding out is go to start -> run -> type in "dxdiag"
that brings up about all the information you could want on your computer 1/14/2006 8:08:08 PM |

mine thinks I have two processors. I guess it's because of hyperthreading? 1/14/2006 10:33:27 PM |
