What is the key to making an A in this class? After two classes im already feeling like I can learn this on my own and not go to class at all. Did that work for anybody?

all i gotta say is i feel bad for you. he was by far the worst professor i have ever had. i got a B in his class this past fall, so i will let you know what i did to get there. i went to the first couple classes than pretty much quit going. i would show up to the class before every exam and listen to his so called "review." some of his questions on his tests are based on ethical situations which are just common sense. to study, i would read through the slides, chapter summaries, and pretty much pray from there. sometimes he curves a couple points, but make sure to do well on the term project. GOOD LUCK!

I concur with ^

What a horrible, HORRIBLE, excuse for a teacher. I am a techie by nature, so I knew MOST of what was going on in there to begin with. The stuff I didn't know was like deicision supprt system, ERP systems, and the business/IT side of it.

I didn't buy the book. I went to 2 classes between each test. I somehow managed an A-. I would strongly recommend NOT doing what I did. I only did this because I knew the material pretty well, AND, it was an 8:30am class. Can you imagine getting up for this guy at 8am? No way.

I would try to go and just key in on points he'll make in class; he'll emphasize about 4-5 things per day (takes maybe 2 minutes out of the whole class) and just read powerpoints the rest, BUT, those 4-5 will without a doubt be on the test. So if you can go and just key in on the few notes he gives, you're straight for the tests. Get a buddy (or two) and rotate going and taking/sharing notes.

going to class will make a difference on your test score...but only if you catch the few statements that end up on the test. i often slept because he was so boring and probably would have done the same grade wise (B+).

most of the information you need will come from the powerpoint slides. but if you dont have a good technical backround youll probably need the book (occassionally uses case studies) and lectures (handouts/specific lecture questions) to make an A.

and get ready for about 30 t/f questions and some poorly worded m/c questions.

yea I HAD fowler for this class and then they switched the professors at the last minute. The only reason i took this class at 8:30 was to avoid Masemore and look what fucking happens

Is masemore not any better in the smaller classroom? And, I know that I saw he was borring fpr all the posts, but it seems like, grade distribrution wise, mostly everyone ended up with a B...does he just curve real big at the end?

No he LOVES the smaller classroom. He'll say it about 100 times during the semester in the large room that he "wishes you all were in the smaller classroom". It's VERY evident.

He says that yall can't have open discussions in such a large room and blah blah, but yeah I'd say the difference shows in the grades. Plus, it's harder to fall asleep in the small room I would supposed.
