well two if you count Damien Wilkins' attempt. Too bad he tried to come back to the team and Herb shut the door on him. I still support Herb's decision on that one.

no hes not. I know his high school coaches best friend. They still talk on a weekly basis and Ced wants a degree from what I hear.

What the hell

That has to be one of the oddest comments concerning someone's draft potential in the NBA

Watch. I promise he won't go. He's not developed enough to contend with those other centers in the NBA. He also is just not starting to build up any "stock" for a higher draft pick.

What does how developed a player is have to do with whether or not they could be drafted high in the NBA?

Are you serious? Players that aren't developed don't (typically) get drafted high in the NBA.

I mean, I know next to nothing about the NBA but that is as common sense as it gets.

He showed Sheldon how to dominate in the paint.

Sheldon was thinking he's some shit when he said who's simmons? and gets 3 blocks from him

Ced going pro right now would be almost equivalent to Josh Powell attempting to go pro.

A couple more years and then he could easily be a 1st round draft pick. Leave now and beg for someone to take you on their team.

No, Ced definitely has shown more than Powell (his was basically just the end run surge).

I dunno. Ced has had about 8 major games he's looked like he has lots of potential. Powell had a couple games, then the ACC tourney... really not too much difference.

I do think Ced has more ability to be smarter in the paint with some coaching then Josh did... he was too hard headed and arrogant, where Ced seems like a reasonable guy.

Speaking of which.. I hardly ever hear Ced talking on TV that much.. can anyone who knows him comment on what kinda guy he is? He seems like a friendly guy.

It's obvious you don't know much. Seriously, I don't mean to be an ass, but half the recent draft picks have been players who aren't developed.

Let's look at the top 15 from the past three (random number) drafts:

1 Milwaukee Andrew Bogut - Utah

2 Atlanta Marvin Williams - North Carolina

3 Utah Deron Williams - Illinois

4 New Orleans Chris Paul - Wake Forest

5 Charlotte Raymond Felton - North Carolina

6 Portland Martell Webster - Seattle, WA

7 Toronto Charlie Villanueva - Connecticut

8 New York Channing Frye - Arizona

9 Golden State Ike Diogu - Arizona State

10 LA Lakers Andrew Bynum - Metuchen, NJ

11 Orlando Fran Vazquez - Malaga

12 LA Clippers Yaroslov Korolev - Moscow

13 Charlotte Sean May - North Carolina

14 Minnesota Rashad McCants - North Carolina

15 New Jersey Antoine Wright - Texas A&M

Of those, I'd say Marvin Williams, Deron Williams, Martell Webster, Charlie Villanueva, Andrew Bynum, Fran Vazquez, Korolev, and Wright are all undeveloped.

2004:

1. ORL Dwight Howard, Southwest Christian Academy (GA)
2. CHA Emeka Okafor, Connecticut
3. CHI Ben Gordon, Connecticut
4. LAC Shaun Livingston, Peoria Central HS (IL)
5. WAS Devin Harris, Wisconsin
6. ATL Josh Childress, Stanford
7. CHI Luol Deng, Duke
8. TOR Rafael Araujo, Brigham Young
9. PHI Andre Iguodala, Arizona
10. CLE Luke Jackson, Oregon
11. GSW Andris Biedrins, Latvia
12. SEA Robert Swift, Bakersfield HS (CA)
13. POR Sebastian Telfair, Lincoln HS (NY)
14. UTA Kris Humphries, Minnesota
15. BOS Al Jefferson, Prentiss HS (MS)

Of those, I'd say Howard, Livingston, Deng, Igoudala, Biedrins, Swift, Telfair, and Jefferson were undeveloped (and that's being nice, could include a couple more).

2003:

1. CLE LeBron James, Saint Vincent-Saint Mary's HS (OH)
2. DET Darko Milicic, Serbia & Montenegro
3. DEN Carmelo Anthony, Syracuse
4. TOR Chris Bosh, Georgia Tech
5. MIA Dwyane Wade, Marquette
6. LAC Chris Kaman, Central Michigan
7. CHI Kirk Hinrich, Kansas
8. MIL T.J. Ford, Texas
9. NYK Mike Sweetney, Georgetown
10. WAS Jarvis Hayes, Georgia
11. GSW Mickael Pietrus, France
12. SEA Nick Collison, Kansas
13. MEM Marcus Banks, Nevada-Las Vegas
14. SEA Luke Ridnour, Oregon
15. ORL Reece Gaines, Louisville

Of those, I'd say Darko, Bosh, Pietrus, and Gaines (again, could include some others, but thats ok) were undeveloped.

That's 20 of 45 picks that are undeveloped (in my opinion, obviously). The NBA drafts exclusively on potential these days, thanks in large part to Kevin Garnett, who many NBA scouts and GM's never gave a chance because of his "rawness" and lack of weight coming out of high school. Now he's arguably the best player in the NBA. The GM's don't want to miss the next "big thing," so they take chances on kids that could turn out to be dynamite down the line.

I asked my friend who's asst. athletic trainer on the team the same question last night. He said that he is a really nice, level-headed guy. but that kinda works against him since he doesnt get angry and mean during the games. Supposedly they are working on getting him more aggressive when he's playing. I think he looked pretty mean and aggressive last night, so they must be doing something right.

He's gonna need to be mean and aggressive on saturday. Eric Williams is a far better center than sheldon williams, imo.

^ are you serious?

ive seen eric williams do nothing but hit wide open dunks.

his post moves arent better than sheldons, neither is his ability to draw a foul, nor does he block shots at the rate shewil does.

shelden williams is light-years ahead of eric williams. shelden is one of the best players in college basketball right now.

E. Williams gets by on sheer bulk...I would not be surprised to see Ced completely dominate him.

However, you can't entirely discount the size factor, because it does work a lot of the time.

I disagree.

Eric Williams just has not been utilized like he should be until last night. Also, Eric matches up against Ced a lot better than SheWill. Mostly because his eyes point in the same direction.

Don't get me wrong, SheWill is certainly one of the best, but I just think that Eric is highly underestimated. Although a lot of that is Skip not demanding that they feed him the ball in the post. But it looked like that adjustment was made last night.

Simmons is an intelligent cat...just because we had another player of similar physical size (Powell) who got some bad advice doesnt mean any good player we ever have is gonna leave early

I don't know if you saw the play last night close to the end of the game where Cedric was close to the 3 point line and Sheldon was in his face obviously reaching in and fouling him then Ced gets called for the foul when Sheldon gets elbowed in the face while reaching in. The next play down the court Ced comes out of nowhere and makes one of the most ridiculous blocks I've ever seen. In that play he showed a little anger from the previous play, atleast in my opinion. I think a level headed basketball player is one of the key ingredients to being a successful one but adding a little anger in the equation close to the end of the game will never hurt anyone if its used correctly. I'd much rather our guys go into the end of a big game with anger than like a bunch of scared bitches. This is one thing that I think Herb really lacks in his coachhing is getting our players emotionally rallied up for an end of a game push.

playing angry will get fouls called on you and playing like bitches will lead to careless play and turnovers...we need to play the 2nd half like we finished out the 1st half and its money...composed...in between angry and scared

They held their focus well, it just so happened that Duke had a SIX POINT posession in the final minutes of the game. It was basically over then, no matter how well they played because duke is not gone have silly turn overs that would keep us in the game.
