i was just wondering... i'm not trying to be a jew... i'm just wondering what the fair tip amount is.
should i include that extra dollar 30 in the total when i calculate the percentage to tip? 1/25/2006 9:59:27 PM |

yes
that would be the more jewish way though
the non jewish way is to just give him what you woulda given him anyways

if they find your house, its a miracle. Give them a tip just for having a sense of direction. Seriously, I have never gotten a pizza from papa johns where the driver did not get lost- even when I was ordering from Nelson Hall one time. 1/25/2006 10:50:29 PM |

honestly thats probably the phone takers fault not the drivers
campus orders are different, i bet the guy tried to put an address when all he had to do was put nelson hall or something
when i worked there i considered that the fastest delivery people in this area, some people are gone for like 30 minutes and go to like 4 places 1/25/2006 10:53:42 PM |

we ordered one night and were told it'd be 30-45 minutes. an hour rolls by, so we call back and (politely) say we were told 30-45 minutes and wondered where the food was at. the dude disappears for a second, comes back and is like "well i dont know who told you that but they committed a felony and should be fired! Do you remember his/her name?" My friend on the phone is all like and didn't know his name. We ended up gettin the pizza for free like 5 minutes later, then got 2 vouchers from papa john's corporate office "for our inconvenience." Turned out to be a sweet deal, though i hope dude was foolin around about the felony thing.

yea back in the day when i slang pizzas, the fees all went to the driver at the end of the night. and they got paid like 6 an hour plus tips. so thats a lot better than a waiter. so i usually tip like 10% -- maybe more if the person is nice or funny or whatnot. 1/26/2006 2:05:31 AM |

the $1.30 goes to the store, not the driver. Its a lame attempt at trying to make their prices look lower. Basically screwing over the people that choose delivery over pick up as well as screwing over the driver by lowering tip income. 1/26/2006 9:04:11 AM |

just like waiting i dont feel sorry for someone b/c of the tip fiasco. im not going to go out of my way to tip you insanely high b/c your company is screwing you...you obviously know that (or are dumb). it isnt some career path they took 6 years of college to get into and now are stuck.
i usually give um around 10-15% of the order price.

I think it is bullshit that the company screws the drivers, but i also feel its ridiculous to add to the screwing of the driver, because you were too lazy to go pick up your own dinner. Drivers pay for their own gas, and if no one was to tip, they would end up paying to work and therefor end up causing delivery services to stop alltogether. 1/26/2006 9:55:57 AM |
jackleg All American 170957 Posts user info edit post |
how much do your drivers make per hour. i think its different than waiting tables.... where you tip out 2-3% (easily) of your sales to other people. which can easily exceed the amount they made that hour. i tip a lot more to waiters than i do to pizza people.

wow, take a look at this site...
http://www.tipthepizzaguy.com/pjcconline.htm
Quote : | "Papa John's online ordering scam
If you order online and want to tip with a credit card, you must enter the tip amount online. Otherwise, the driver won't receive the tip even if you fill out the receipt.
By the time the driver arrives with your pizza, it's too late. The way Papa John's has it set up, the credit card transaction was handled online and completed by a different company. This means nothing can be done to add a tip afterward. If you indicated no tip or left it blank on the website, the ordering system will not allow you to add the tip when the driver arrives.
It will be useless to write the tip on the printed receipt. Your tip will not be reflected since the transaction was considered complete at an earlier stage. Drivers are not receiving intended tips because of this little quirk.
You can't call the store and place another credit card order just to cover the tip. According to their rules, you would have to purchase something.
Please remember this unfortunate quirk in Papa John's online ordering system. When tipping via credit card, you must specify the tip amount online." |
number one, WHY THE FUCK would anyone visit this site regularly to keep up with the changing trends in how to tip the fucking pizza guy
number two, how the fuck is that a SCAM on the part of papa johns. these assholes think they should be making 60k a year for driving a pizza to my house. blow me.1/26/2006 10:08:58 AM |

since PJs has put on the delivery charge I make maybe 2/3 what i use to. I still make a decent ammount but thats relying on people to make up for poor tippers. We have to rely on large orders to companys and campus, that usually get you a $10 tip. If you arent lucky enough to get one of those runs, you have to hope you get a run with multiple stops. I basically dont even work for the income, i do it so i have something to do in my spare time. I hate just hanging out at home, or blowing my money going out drinking. Im lucky if I bring home $150 a week now at PJs after gas. Before they added the delivery charge it was 2x that. 1/26/2006 10:41:47 AM |
