Thought so.

My main prob is that it doesn't keep the answers you had right on the first submission so you have to go back and answer everything again. Pain in the ass especially when you guessed and you don't remember what you guessed.

and you can't just go back and write down that you had "Question 1 : A. , Question 2: B, Question 3: C,....." Because the answers are jumbled after each submission... It's just a pain in the ass and makes the homework 10X harder than it needs to be.

I don't think Vista sucks, I think it's great software that aids in online instruction.

The purpose of a quiz or "assessment" is to test whether or not you know the material, not how well you can guess the correct answer. You should thank your instructor for letting you have multiple submissions because then you wouldn't know if the question you guessed was wrong or right until after it was graded.

The instructor specified when they created the quiz to randomize each question, each time you take the quiz. If you have a problem about the randomization, email the instructor and ask if they can change it. But we all know they do that to hinder cheating. But if you're that concerned about remembering if you guessed a question correct, press Ctrl + P to print the quiz after you submit it.

But trust me, the instructor isn't trying to make your life a living hell, they're trying to test what YOU know, not what your book knows, not what your friend knows, not what your mother knows....etc.

Did I say I guess until I got it right? No...

If I couldn't find the answer I took my best guess. I just happened to forget my guess since I took about and hour+ between submission doing other shit.

Darknight you don't count you made it.

And this is Rocks for Jocks, so the answers aren't in the back of your mind, you have to go through all the fucking notes.

WebCT (normal) was and is miles better and more simplified than Vista.

They fixed something that wasn't broken, and now it sucks.

You're CRAZY if you think the older version of WebCT wasn't a pain in the ass. The reasoning behind your statement is merely based on the fact that you've gotten used to the old version, and there's a slight learning curve behind Vista. God forbid if you have to learn something new... It's easier to use, easier to navigate, and tremendously helps the instructor organize their course material.

I take offense to anything that thinks pop-ups are a good way to handle navigation.

WebCT sucked and WebCT Vista seems be just as bad if not worse.

Seriously, if you really just want to reuse the answers you already submitted, just copy the whole question into a word file. Isn't that hard.

What the hell are you talking about? The only things that "Pop up" are announcements or when you take a quiz so that you could reference course materials also. Therefore I don't see anything that pops up and deals with navigation.

You should make sure you don't have any problems with your browser. When you login, click "Check Browser" in the upper right corner. Make sure you have vistaserver.ncsu.edu as an allowed site for your popup blocker and you have an up-to-date version of Java installed.

Smells like someone works for/is one of the developers

I'm all for defending the quality of the software you put out

But the again, I don't generally write crap like WebCT Vista

Yeah the brilliant minds behind Vista always setup "Maintainance" on Sundays thinking that since it's not a schoolday, kids don't use it.

I'd venture to say Sunday is the most heavily relied on day to complete homework of the week.

And I mean what's to maintain? Freakin' Yahoo Mail works 99.9999% of the time and they can't get Vista up??

it probably was caused by the power outages on campus...

a lot of the servers went down and things went fubar when all of that happened...

I've always found webct to be a little user-unfriendly... webct vista is about the same

what really bothers me with vista, though, is that i always seem to either have a server problem (where i cant log in) or it causes my browser to crash

Hey noob,

Do you have any clue how complex Vista is, or are you talking out your ass?

^ That's an AWESOME first post I must say...

My gripe is that WebCT was freakin' stellar. It worked and it worked. Got the job done without the flashy crap that needs "updating" every Sunday for like 6 hours.

EDIT: And yes, I can very well see how complex Vista is. It's so complex it can't even function as it's designed to.

Yeah we've gotten a lot of complaints about the reply to post error........*sigh*.....We had to forward that problem to the "WebCT Premium Support" aka Software Engineers that need to fix their bug! No word on when that'll be fixed. I'm pretty sure they had these sort of errors whenever State used WebCT for the first year, and they'll get all fixed sometime.

I was helping an instructor today, and I kept going back to maximize his Vista course, and it was GONE! It happened like twice, and I thought it was just me hitting some key to close the window.

I've had that problem too, espcially if I was using a slow computer or if I clicked Yes too fast.

We're currently on figuring out all of these issues, most of them arose from making the servers use SSL, and then we added in another server and had to load balence it correctly to ensure an even distribution of users.

If you have any other grips you want to talk about, please direct them to contact@webct.com

What else would you expect from Canadians?

The excuse "well, it's complex, so it makes sense that it doesn't work all the time" isn't a very good one.
