I'm not very good with technology, and I am trying to set up my unity webspace for a class assignment
What does this step mean? Quote : | "Constructing the URL for each Web page In order for others to visit the Web pages in your www subdirectory or for you to make links among them, you'll need to provide URLs that follow this convention, which utilizes the tilde (~):
http://www4.ncsu.edu/~userid/file.html
For a specific Web page: Replace userid with your Unity ID. Replace file.html with the file name of the Web page in your www subdirectory.
Example: http://www4.ncsu.edu/~jddoe/webpage1.htm

Where do I do this step? Inside WS FTP? How? Please help
Thanks (and yes I tried TWW search for the topic, couldn't find the answers I need )1/27/2006 1:36:26 PM |

uh
i don't really understand what you're wanting to know
what you've quoted there is pretty much just explaining how your URL looks
there's really nothing you need to 'do' per se 1/27/2006 1:42:19 PM |

okay well I am using WS FTP, and I've created the www sub folder. I dragged my file into the sub folder so I guess what I'm asking is how do I put the file online? How do I give it a URL or web address? How do I make it so others can get to it? How do I create the URL for that file?
sorry if that doesn't make sense...I am really confused

oh ok
if the file is in your www folder, then it is online
i'm assuming you put an 'index.html' file in your www directory
just point your browser to http://www4.ncsu.edu/~yourunityid/index.html
the same goes for anyother file you put in your www directory
just add the filename to the end of http://www4.ncsu.edu/~yourunityid/ 1/27/2006 1:49:07 PM |
